Hawks face road test in Brooklyn

Image

The Atlanta Hawks and Brooklyn Nets will face off on Wednesday in New York. The Hawks will look to pick up their second road win of the season vs. a Nets team that is still trying to find itself early in the season.

Both teams come into play at 4-3 through their first seven games, with the Nets having won three of thier last four. Brooklyn remains without Kyrie Irving, and James Harden has struggled to adjust to the new NBA foul rules. Harden is averaging just 18.6 points and 5.3 free throws per game, both would be the lowest total of his career since being traded to the Houston Rockets. Kevin Durant meanwhile has been as good as ever for the Nets, posting 27.7 points, 8.9 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game through seven games on a ridiculous 58% shooting from the floor.

On the poll question I went Clint. Not that Trae won’t put up numbers but I think Clint should get 15+ boards tonight and dominate on both ends. Looking for a 20/20 night from him.

Go Hawks!

I look forward to this matchup. Maybe even more since the Braves won and baseball is over.

Almost end of 3rd quarter.
Very simple game :
- ATL with Clint is fantastic and needed
- Hunter is on fire
- ATL with Cam is horrible (bad choices after bad choices, already at -13 +/- in first half...) and Nate continue to let him on the floor.

If they loose this game, it will be Nate's fault

EDIT : end of 3rd
Reddish at -27 now, fantastic idea to keep him on the floor, and on Durant...

Message that the coaching staff needs to convey to Hawks players on the flight home:

I hope that Nate will ask an assistant to check Plus/Minus during game and that if it matches what he sees, he decide to get this negative player on the bench.
Keeping a player in the game when he's playing badly, and while Plus/Minus confirms it, in hope it will change is from what I saw working sometimes, but most of the time, it fails.
It was stupid to try to let Cam in a game like that Vs a contender. Nate coached them tonight like Pierce was doing last season

I'm not a huge believer in +/- on a quarter to quarter basis. (And I suspect an old school coach like McMillan probably isn't either.)

But I've suspected that Cam's emergence this season is fool's gold. I can't get past the fact that our team looked absolutely dynamite without him last season.

And even when he came back in the playoffs, he thrived while the team lost most of their games. I want him to succeed as he's the other part of the Luka trade, but it might be time to seriously consider moving him.

The fact Atlanta already dangled him in trade talks this past summer tells me Travis has reached that point as well.

Hunter was amazing.
I wanted the win but I hope our team learned from the loss.

I think this is more on the coaching staff utilizing him that trying to swap him out. There is just a lot of talent with Cam, I don’t want to hand that over to another team, we can’t make a mistake like that. We just have to implement him better.

BTW, did Atlanta dangle him or just rumors?

I came up with a perfect salary match trade. I wouldn’t do it but crazy match.

To Hawks: Ben Simmons

To Sixers: Cam + Gallo +Wright

I gotta be honest though, I kind of think Ben is a phony. Maybe I’m wrong but he comes off as a team destroyer. Sadly, his skill set does match for us.
