Hawks v Raptors -- Part 2: Revenge of the Fallen

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Fri Feb 4, 2022 9:35 pm

Raptors and Hawks both look to continue Eastern Conference ascent

An entertaining battle gets underway up north when the Toronto Raptors host the Atlanta Hawks. Both teams are in good form of late as Toronto’s on a four-game winning streak, while Atlanta’s won eight of its past ten games. Moreover, Atlanta’s coming off an impressive 124-115 victory over arguably the best team in the NBA after snapping the Suns 11-game winning streak on Thursday night.

Toronto also played yesterday, defeating the Eastern Conference’s top seed in the Chicago Bulls by outlasting them 127-120 in overtime. Thus, neither team will have an advantage in terms of rest.

However, while both teams appear to be somewhat even in this matchup, Atlanta boasts the second-best efficiency on offense with 111.1 points per 100 possessions. That makes the Hawks even more valuable since they’re catching three points before the game even tips off.

According to Stevens, bettors might also want to consider the recent play of Atlanta’s All-Star point guard. “If Trae Young is going to continue to put up 40-point performances like the 43 he scored last night against Phoenix, I can feel pretty good about where this team stands on the second leg of a back-to-back.”

Revenge is a must. Hopefully Trae is healthy enough for this one. I wouldn't expect Collins to play with such a short turnaround.

Jalen time? Both 4s could be out, or does O, get time at power foward, and dieng to back up Capela?

Trae Young scares me...but this was a fun game to watch.

Disappointing game after what we accomplished two nights ago. Toronto has our number.

I said it in the other thread : we are winning because of our bench being that the best in the league in 10 previous game.
And here, Gallo out, no win
Image

Don't need to search a long time why there are rumors TOR wants Gallo now.

Back to this game, the first quarter was a nightmare they tried several time to recover but it's effort to get back was then punished by TOR.
Now, call me crazy but what's the problem with Nate doing twice in a week the same thing : he again took a time out at 3"35 left just when ATL were coming back from -15 to -5. Why ? Just because he had more time out left than TOR ?
If someone has to take a time out at this moment, it's Nurse, not him
He just offered them a free time out, and Nurse being a good coach, he out coached Nate with this one, and even if ATL scored on the following possession, they were outplayed by TOR.
Why stopping your team when they get rhythm and are coming back ?

I was also a bit surprised that Capela did not play more, they were OK with him. But on this one, he was not on the court when they came back in the 4th so he certainly keep it like that.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
