Re: Hawks improved on defense, but struggling to score
Literally the middle of the pack.
We obviously needed to improve the defense, but this much regression on offense is problematic. Especially since every minute of a competitive game is manned by an All Star PG for Atlanta.

Six Games Played:
After the blowout victory over Detroit and the competitive showing against Toronto Milwaukee -- Hawks are now Top 10 in Net Rating and Offensive Rating.
Middle of the pack in Defense.

Yeah. Even when we rank in the top of offensive efficiency, it still feels like that's more a result of Trae being elite than some great offensive system.
Nate is a solid manager of players and defensive coordinator, but this team is built for offense and his schemes aren't very innovative.
(Just think. If we're a top-10 offense utilizing an outdated offensive philosophy, imagine what we can do in a modern, high-flying offense.)

Nate has already mentioned not using analytics regarding 3 pt shooting. It will be our doom.
I railed against this whole mid-range shots and attacking mismatches in the early part of last season as well - now here we are, AGAIN. There is nothing imaginative and intuitive about Nate's offense.
If you going to be a midrange team you need to take more of them and hit at a higher percentage. We aren't getting to the free throw line except Trae.
People want Trae offball? AND I JUST DON'T MEAN FOR HIM TO RELOCATE WHEN HE GIVES UP THE BALL WHICH HE DEFINITELY HAS TO DO ? Trae off ball has been about Murray ISO dribble. No player or ball movement by ANYONE!
I expected to see some very specific sets to put Trae in CnS opportunities off ball. And this isn't about running him like Curry, he isn't that, but if you want him truly off ball and not just someone else bringing the ball upcourt just to give it back to him. Run an actual play with a screen, back screens, what angle is he going to come off screens, how tight will he come off a screen, INTENTIONALLY AND PURPOSEFULLY screen him open and get him in scoring position.
For that to happen, you have to have that play in your book, since it's about timing and positioning of the screens, who is the screener, how many screens, and who is getting him the ball. This is Nate's Play Book:

Any replacements for Nate you're hoping we pursue?
I like Becky Hammon and Quin Snyder.
I love Kenny Atkinson for the post. (I suspect he's easily the front runner for the post.)

At this point - ANYONE that can put in actual offensive playbook with all the talent we have.
I'm partial to Becky

Not too sure the NBA is ready for a female coach just yet. I really like what younger coaches bring to the game like Will Hardy. No old school nepotism. It's clear Nate has to go. He's just another version of Woodson and the Hawks are wasting time the longer he's here.

The point that is not great: "No. 1 in two-point attempts per game (62.9), and No 28 in free throw attempts per game (21.6)."
How can you be 1st in 2pts attemps and 28th in FT attemps? it looks like they are not agressive enough

Re: Hawks improved on defense, but struggling to score
Bleacher ReportAtlanta's Three-Point Funk
If you told the Atlanta Hawks before the season that Dejounte Murray would bag 40 percent of his long-range looks and De'Andre Hunter would splash a career-best 44.4 percent of his own, they might reasonably expect to have the Association's strongest perimeter attack.
It turns out they aren't even close: tied for 26th in makes (10.3 per game) and 15th in accuracy (36 percent).
Now, the Hawks should expect some positive regression, as Trae Young (32.1 percent) and John Collins (26.1) are both having the worst shooting campaigns of their career. Of course, if Murray and Hunter trend the other way, that may not solve anything. The hope here has to be that a healthy Bogdan Bodanović can eventually offset some of the perimeter production lost by the summer subtractions of Kevin Huerter and Danilo Gallinari.

Re: Hawks improved on defense, but struggling to score
After 9 games...Hawks are 6-3. #13 on offensive rating, #16 in defensive rating.
We're still a middle of the road team and *NO longer an elite offense.
72 games left to figure it out...

Hopefully Bogi's return, whenever that is, will make the difference in the offensive rating which I suspect is dragged down by the bench unit. They can be downright brutal.
