Hawks look to bounce back in Toronto

Image

The Atlanta Hawks (4-2) and Toronto Raptors (3-3) will meet on Monday evening as the Hawks will play the fourth game on their current five-game roadtrip. Atlanta is 2-1 on the trip to this point after dropping Saturday’s contest to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Raptors last played Friday when they fell to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Trae Young continued to light it up for the Hawks in the loss on Saturday, scoring 42 points (25 in the second half) in defeat. Young has increased his scoring total in each game to this point in the season. The Hawks will need more hot shooting from Young on Monday as they look to take an important Eastern Conference matchup. Young is averaging 31.5 points and 9.7 assists per game through the first six games of the 2022-23 season.

Pascal Siakam is off to an outstanding start to the season for Toronto, averaging 25.3 points, 9.2 assists and 7.7 assists per game. He will be a tough assignment for the Hawks, as he has the size and mobility to get to his spots with ease. The Raptors attack starts with Siakam, so neutralizing him is obviously a big key for Atlanta in this matchup.

Very ugly game from ATL, Trae was just not able to be at his level: 14pts/10ast/10TO and worst +/- with -29
18 TO for ATL, 6 TO for TOR
25 FT for ATL, 40 FT for TOR

It's the kind of game that even with Murray added, a bad game from Trae = big L
Maybe once Bogi is back they will be able to have one of these three guards having a bad game and still win, but for now, it's not the case

This team has trouble with long, physical, athletic 3-5 position players. Out muscled by Siakam per usual. Couldn't keep them off the boards and off the ft line.

Players need to step up, but Nate is not getting the most out of the talent. Early signs of lack of hustle by some players and Trae seeming to have been ped off seem to be indicative of a problem

Thing is, this isn't about 7 games. It goes back to all of last season. Team way under-performed last year and things can go off the rails quickly.

This is a schedule loss. Nothing more.

Third GAME in 4 nights. Been on the road for a week.

Anyone who has traveled extensively for work knows that jet lag starts to set in after a few night of constant flights and mediocre hotel beds.

The guys just need rest and some home cooking. Burn the tape and move on to NYC.
