Hawks Host Overachieving Jazz

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Wed Nov 9, 2022 1:22 pm

Hawks Hope to Cool Hot Jazz

Image

The Atlanta Hawks have continued their great start to the season as they are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference at 7-3 and on a three-game winning streak. This matchup is against the best that the west has to offer in the 9-3 Utah Jazz. Both teams come in on a three-game winning streak and feature top-10 offenses in the league.

New Hawk Dejounte Murray continues to be a impactful addition for the Hawks with averages of 22.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 2.5 steals per game. De’Andre Hunter is averaging 14.4 points per game and John Collins has been crucial with his 12.9 points and 8.9 rebounds.

For the Hawks to win this one, Murray must continue to show up and show out as he has this season. Also, they must be effective down low on both sides of the court and grab crucial rebounds and keep possessions alive through offensive boards.

Hawks are a 2.5pt favorite.

Utah has won the previous five meetings.

Trae is available to play.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

Kessler is a beast!!!

i was hoping that the one game AJ had wasn't a fluke and he can keep up performance and prove me wrong.

Walker's interior defense was just Mutombo like tonight...

The only reason I didn't bet on a UTA win was because I don't want to bet against ATL, but I was sure this game would be a nightmare and ATL would loose, knowing they would not play focused enough the whole game and take UTA like the team they were supposed to be before the season starts, and even if they already proved they were serious.

I just can't believe they lost this way. The entire first half was a joke, playing like if it was an all-star game.
In a few minutes, Nate should have realize that it was not working to get to the basket as fast as possible, and needed to slow down the game.
Instead, they just tried to score as fast as possible, but not doing any fake shot, just running to the basket like headless chicken, and missing shots.

They came back in the 3rd like a totally different team, really focused, taking time to create good matchups,... and build a 10pts lead, that they lost playing without focus again, especially just after Capela came back in the middle of the 4th, while they were at their best with him in the third.

Hunter became clutch hitting consecutive baskets, but it was too late.

This game looked like Nate only coached them in the 3rd quarter. Unbelievable

He was in a totally different context the previous game, without Trae. If he had had this game tonight in the same context than Vs MIL, you would have been right, but I'm not agreeing on it for tonight game because Trae was playing and it was sure he would not get the opportunities like Vs MIL

Nate lost is the momentum with his set rotations at the end of the 3rd, start of 4th. Forcing the Holidaze instead of playing AJ.

Nate gets outcoached by most of the league, nothing new onto the Sixers.

Lauri was basically a 7foot Curry out there tonight. You are not really going to win when the other team's guy is doing that. It was just a good shooting night for the Jazz.

24 FTs for UTA - 11 FTs for ATL

ATL with Collins: +19 in 28min
ATL without Collins: -25 in 20min
Fact is that John took 2 fouls in 2 min at the beginning of the game, was benched, but he never got any foul later and finished with these 2 fouls only... they have to not make stupid fouls at the beginning, it's a game changer most of the time

It was not the main problem at all, ATL dominated UTA by 12pts when Markkanen was on the floor tonight
Clarkson and the bench guys (except Sexton who was playing like ATL in the first half, running without thinking about anything) was the main problem, they got destroyed by Beasley and especially Gay, Kessler and Horton-Tucker

Utah had 7 made 3s in the 4th quarter for 21 of their 40 points. We got 19 points from our bench in this game.

Just one more headless chicken play in this game. I didn't see Nate wanted a timeout, but I did see that Trae should not have made this play.

As they were playing right in the third with Capela, I was thinking that they would try to stay in the game during the first half of the 4th quarter, then build a lead with Capela being back for the last 6min, but I was surprised to see them playing again stupidly the first 2 or 3min with him.
They should instantly have played like in the third, slower, and not going back to try to play faster than UTA as it was clearly not the best option yesterday.

Like I said, headless chicken play. They most of the time didn't score attacking the basket directly, and once near it, never stopped, faked shot, pass the ball,... just going straight to the basket, the easiest thing to defend for players quick enough and bigger

One more thing: even if UTA is in the Western Conf, it was a game to get a higher record than them (they would have been at 9-4 and ATL at 8-3 if Hawks had won this game), and in most cases like that, ATL are loosing.
It was like that all season long last year.
How is it not possible for Nate to prepare this team correctly and talk about the importance of this kind of game, as it should clearly be a source of motivation to pass a team in the records?
