But we need salary in return for anybody traded, we can't start again to go around the Salary Cap, it's time now to built a Tax roster, it should already have been done last summer when they traded for Murray. Each time they will make a financial step forward followed by a step back, they will lead us to be an average team. Sure they will better than an average team, but once in playoffs, just a bad matchup and they will lose.

Maybe 10 but it's not worthwhile. I'd just draft bpa and need with each spot.

The value is...adequate.

Hard to part with a stalwart like Capela for such light compensation. But if this is step One in roster reconstruction, it's a solid move to accumulate draft picks which are easier to package in trade.

No. Why would the Hawks?

We would still be over the salary cap but further under the Luxury Tax making trades easier.
We would create a TPE worth $18.5 million to sign a player(s).
We'd now have the full MLE of $11 million available.

No kidding.

A very impassioned Grizz fan on their forum has equated the Ja suspension for violating league/team rules...to slavery.

For a kid making a quarter of a billion dollars. :banghead:

My bad, I assumed you wanted to save money only, following the rumors about Hawks wanting to get more room to go after Jaylen Brown, which IMHO is a dream more than a possibility

I believe the Memphis Grizzlies and Philadelphia 76ers should consider swapping Ja Morant and Joel Embiid.

Now Adam Silver will be getting involved in the Morant situation and adding on more suspensions. Just like the Texans in the Watson situation, the Griz front office is starting to want to get there elite star out, due to off the court issues and regardless of talent and contract. So now the rumor mill is flooded with Morant trades.

Morant is a better player than Trae but Ja's game doesn't age well like Westbrook. Trae has alot of flaws but his game and style of play does age well, similar to Chris Paul.

..... Jump, defend.

Both have a good mid range game, Ja does it with athleticism and Trae does it with a floater. Trae is the better shooter. Ja has elite scoring and above average NBA defense, as for Trae we have been hearing for the last 5 years is that what has been holding the Hawks back in the playoffs (or championship) is Trae's defense, while Ja already has a legit NBA defense now.

With that said, Ja seems to have a worst injury history than Trae and Ja's career could mirror Derrick Rose. Trae will never be elite, a 10 year all star or make any first teams ever, but he could have a long career like CP3

Is Ja really an above average defender? He isn't a traffic cone anymore, but to me looks average at best on defense.

Trade away the Hawks' 2nd most valuable player for the 10th pick in a very very very weak draft..... no thanks, but i can see why PHX loves it.

I would trade John Collins and #15 for a 2nd round pick.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
