Field Level MediaHeat, Hawks face key battle for postseason positioning
Two teams trying to elevate themselves out of the play-in tournament and into the playoffs will square off Saturday when the Atlanta Hawks start a four-game road trip with the first of consecutive games against the Miami Heat. Miami is currently in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, 2 1/2 games behind the sixth-place Brooklyn Nets and a half-game ahead of the eighth-place Hawks.
The Heat have dropped two straight and six of their past seven, including a 122-120 loss to the visiting New York Knicks on Friday.
The Hawks have won three of their past four and gave new coach Quin Snyder his first victory on Friday, a 129-111 victory over the visiting Portland Trail Blazers.
This will be the third of four meetings between the teams this season. They split the two previous meetings in Atlanta. The Hawks and Heat will square off again on Monday in Miami, where the Heat have won the past two matchups.
The Hawks have scored 100 points in 38 straight games. They have only been limited to double digits in two games this season — one of them a 106-98 loss to Miami on Nov. 27.
Atlanta is now 1-1 under former Utah Jazz coach Snyder, who lost his Hawks debut against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday.

Both teams played last night. Miami is a 2.5pt favorite.
No excuses Hawks
If someone catches fire like DJ, so be it, but spread the damn ball around, and especially to guys that start off going 3/4, etc.

Me and Udonis are the same age…it’s incredible that he’s still in the league at this point.
But damn he looks old.

I don't have that worry! No one my age (86) even in any of the coaches!
Great time to win #2 for Quin!

Time to get these ancient dinosaurs out of our way. Finally having a coach to match wits with Spo after all these years is all I've asked for.

I'd love a sweep not for the weekend, but for an upper hand for the season, I have doubts.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

He turned down some nice size contracts to be loyal to Miami. One tram I remember him turning down was Toronto.Jamaaliver wrote:Me and Udonis are the same age…it’s incredible that he’s still in the league at this point.

His NBA pension plan is going to be a solid one. I respect Pat Riley for letting him leave on his own terms.

Re: Hawks battle Miami with the division lead in sight
Hawks getting outclassed tonight. Miami definitely has the blueprint for stopping Trae Young.
NOTE: Bogdan has been on a tear of late because of the rest he got during the All Star Break. It's unthinkable to have him playing on the 2nd night of a back-to-back.
He should be off and resting with AJ getting those minutes tonight. He'd have the freshest legs in the game tonight...

In a game where everyone has dead legs, only the big men are thriving...not a night for jumpshooters.

So, with 6min left in the game, we go back to playing with Capela, who had good individual stats, but with whom they were dominated.
Hope Clint can have a good impact.
That said, Murray has the worst Plus/Minus of the team, maybe too much for him after his performance last night.

I like when Bey is feasting and I'd the hot hand, that Trae decides to play hero ball and go iso-Trae again. Dude you are 1 of 12, just stop.

I agree that it's something that should be logic for him to think about that by himself.
After all, he was not negative, even with his 1/9 some minutes before that. He had a 0 Plus/Minus which mean that the other guys were able to score playing with him, and stay in the game, which was not the case with Murray (-18 at this moment).
But it's like our HC will need to teach that to Trae: "we are OK with you on the floor, but other guys are hitting shots better than you tonight, so don't go hero ball, share the ball and find them until the game is finished !"

I like that at the end Murray had the ball under the basket and you could see him thinking in real time "I'm short, they tall, me not going, to score the ball" so he passes it.D21 wrote:dms269 wrote:I like when Bey is feasting and I'd the hot hand, that Trae decides to play hero ball and go iso-Trae again. Instead Trae goes "they might be tall, I'm little I reckon, so with the ball, I go LEEROOOYYYY JEEENNNNKINSSSSS.

Glad you see it. It's frustrating to constantly see and knowing how good of a shooter Bey is. Let your teammates shine Trae.dms269 wrote:I like when Bey is feasting and I'd the hot hand, that Trae decides to play hero ball and go iso-Trae again. Dude you are 1 of 12, just stop.
