Is Zeller just not the odd man out at this point considering Clint likely isn't being traded. He wasn't really even suppose to be here to begin with.

I heard, and I agree, that, if this player was in this year's draft, he would have gone in the 1st round.
Hawks, getting a 1st round pick, by giving him a two-way contract! Can't beat this with a stick!
How did we get him so cheap? Spurs didn't need him. He didn't fit there. Hawks got a good 'un.
Skyhawks should be great this season...

Barring injury, I expect Dominic Barlow to be with the Hawks before Christmas!

Some deep analysis on Dominick from a very bored Glen Willis.

This has the potential to be a really great pickup for Atlanta.

Finding a Role: Dominick Barlow

Offensive Overview

[Barlow] has finished 62% of his rim looks in his career, 29th and 15th percentile marks for bigs across his first two years respectively. Yet he’s at 42% on short midrange looks (4-14 foot distance) over that same span, taking a huge jump from his rookie year (4/17) to his sophomore (19/38). That 50% mark last season represented an 81st-percentile mark and did not look like a fluke on the tape. To boot, Barlow is 7/15 in the long midrange for his career and 2/7 from deep. It’s unusual for a big in the modern NBA to find their most efficient spots in the midrange.

Barlow showed some important statistical development in other areas as well. His assist rate jumped from 7.1% to 12.7% while cutting his turnover rate by more than half (15.3% to 7.3%). His usage rate increased while his assist/usage rate followed, a good sign of a developing feel on the floor. In fact, Barlow’s 0.90 assist/usage ratio this past season was a 90th percentile mark for bigs.

Granted all of these stats come with a major sample size caveat. Does a 2/7 mark from deep make him a budding Brook Lopez? Do improving playmaking figures make him Marc Gasol reincarnate? They do not. Yet it shows development on the whole without much change in context. The only major change to San Antonio’s roster was the demigod we know as Victor’s arrival, and the two only shared the court for 16 total possessions. This is a story of a player growing rapidly despite the frantic mess of lineups around him.

Most importantly, San Antonio’s offense was 9.8 points per 100 possessions better with Barlow on the floor. That’s a 99th-percentile mark and shows that he can fit in with a competent half-court unit.

DB is too good for the G-League.
Spoiler:
Dominick Barlow – a young two-way player who joined Atlanta over the summer – led the charge for College Park. Barlow stole the show on both ends of the floor, dropping 23 points and seven rebounds with a whopping five blocks. The former Spur shot 8/12 from the field and a perfect 2/2 from downtown.

Barlow’s five rejections set a franchise record for most blocked shots in a Skyhawks debut. He also led both teams in plus-minus with a +19 mark across 31 minutes of action.

Like most of our players...injury has limited him in training camp and preseason.
Waiting impatiently for the Zeller dump to clear his spot.

It's gotta be frustrating for this kid...if he'd stayed in college, he'd be dominating and making a decent living in NIL money.

If he'd come out in the 2024 Draft Class, he'd have possibly been drafted in the 1st round and have a more prominent chance at development.
