Hawks Quarterly Report Card

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Tue Nov 19, 2024 2:18 pm

It's been a Roller Coaster, for sure.

How are we feeling thus far since we're finally healthy and right in the mix for a playoff spot.

Some solid individual performers as we still work towards gelling as a team.

Not even fully healthy but close.
Fix our 3pt defense, limit TOs and secure rebounds. We are in a good place.

This is...encouraging?

(Gotta improve that offense.)

Trae B: shooting terrible but assts are great and clearly leading
JJ B: Growing pains but he has upped his game and should be more to come
DD A: What a find. A star is born. Just fix the 3pt shot
Hunter B: Looking lively and playing well. Needs to stay at that level
Ris B+: Don't like the shooting %, but everything else looks good. Shooting will get better. He's a 19yo rook
CC B: Looks like a rejuvenated CC. Keep it up
OO: C+: if he wants to be a starter he has to find what works consistantly and do it better
Bog C-: Is he on the CIP list (constantly injured player)? Needs to stay healthy and start playing like Bog
Nance: A-: great back up at PF/C
Vit B: Doing Vit thins well. Not going to hold injury against him because he's not CIP
Kobe D: CIP. Needs a lot of development but can't play
Gary B+: keep it up
Roddy B-: He's a hustler and plays hard. Good end of bench player
Gueye D+: really needs to start showing some development. Maybe needs to be in CP
Coaching B: even with all the injuries, the team is playing to expectation. Players are developping. TBD
FO B: I really like the team they built. More work to do especially the bigs. They made stides in my eval with the offseason work
Team B: playing to expectations despite ton of injuries and new players. Great vibes

An offensive rating -- for a Trae Young-led team -- outside of the top-10 is unacceptable.

:D

Skyhawks won last night, 102-90. They now have a 6-3 record. Mo Gueye is down in the G League, playing with them. He's improving all the time. Their next game is Wednesday @ 11 AM and is on Peachtree TV. Give them a watch if you can. Hawks farm team!

Good Listen!

Talks win vs Bucks
Jalen Johnson's rise
Trae Young's adjustment
Hawks defense (length, switch-ability and Zaac)
Hunt's role off the bench: consistent scoring off the bench
What are the Hawks missing to become REAL contenders: Another Big

NBA Power Rankings at Quarter Mark of the Season

15. Atlanta Hawks (12-11)

Image

Previous Ranking: 21
Net Rating: -1.9

The Atlanta Hawks are on fire, the "Trae Young plus three-and-D versatility" vision is coming into focus and Jalen Johnson is having a star (or at least, star-adjacent) breakout.

After beating the Milwaukee Bucks in Milwaukee, Atlanta has won five straight. This run includes two wins over the Cleveland Cavaliers, too.

And the length and switchability of No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher, De'Andre Hunter and Johnson is helping Young focus on his best and most important skill: playmaking.

On the year, he's averaging a league-best 12.0 assists per game.

The most encouraging development, though, could very well be the production of Johnson. He's up to 20.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks on the season. All five marks are career highs for the soon-to-be-23-year-old.
