Upgraded bench for the rest of the season - that's all I got.

Did we actually gain 2nd round picks equity? Brought 3 in, sent 4 out.

It just leaves a sour taste when you trade Hunter and Bogi and all you have to show for it is two expiring contracts, a journeyman forward, and a wing on a bad contract.

This is how I feel.
It's been a disappointing day.

I knew they were going to shed future salary. Looks like Hawks took a talent hit overall. Will have to see the offseason moves to fully judge this

For the rest of the season, it just doesn't matter. Hawks have no hope unless/until DD/ JJ / Ris become real stars

It feels like they are just punting until 2028 honestly.

Need to find out what's up with CC. Hawks need him for the rest of the season

I believe the quality of the 2nd rounders improved...unless you believe Cleveland will be a powerhouse in the Eastern Conference for the next half decade.

Do we know (and where to find it) what picks we actually gave the Clippers? I know we got back Cleveland's 27, 29, and 31.

My take:

Caris Levert is a legit NBA rotation guy. He's historically been a more talented scorer than De'Andre. I expect him to fill out the bench scorer role for the remainder of the season.

George Niang played for Utah under Quin and will likely start at PF for the remainder of the season...once he gets acclimated to Trae and guys. He provides spacing as he's shooting around 40% from 3-pt range. Think of him as a low cost Saddiq Bey.

Terrace Mann I am less familiar with. But word is he's an athletic, defensive minded wing in the midst of a down season. More PT, reps and playing in a less heliocentric offensive system than LAC might benefit him.

Bones Hyland -- :dontknow: Might be waived.

The pick swap is convoluted since the Jazz and Cavs already have a pick swap with those picks. We also have our own picks swap with SAS in 2026.

Scouting report from a Cavs Fan:

JonFromVA wrote:You're getting a couple of good guys in LeVert and Niang back.

LeVert has his own injury problems and up until the first couple of months of this season, we thought he'd never be consistent. Traditionally he's had like one great game a week for us and 2 or 3 crappy ones, but he was lights out for a stretch this year.

It'll be interesting to see how things go the rest of the season for him with you guys because he hadn't been good for us since coming back from injury. One thing he's good at is setting up big men on his drives (he had good chemistry with Jarrett Allen dating back to their time on the Nets).

LeVert can give you guys some more playmaking and his defense is decent too. As for Niang, he can shoot and he's a heady player but physically limited.

Not the sexiest deadline, but Cam Johnson was about the only upgrade out there that was available. So, if we weren't going to pony up for him, then moving off long-term money and adding a solid bench piece in Mann was okay for me.

Caris historically has been a better player than De'Andre...this season is no exception.
