Is Trae Young on the way out?

Post#1 » by atlantabbq99 » Fri Feb 7, 2025 8:03 am

With all the trades that Hawks just pulled off and collecting a bunch of guards and no post players, i get that bad feeling that Trae is on his way out.

With the stock pile of young guards the Hawks have now, are the Hawks going to trade Young for a big like Sabonis?

This is a wet dream, but is their anyway the Hawks can trade for Anthony Edwards??

Trae will probably ask for an exit sooner rather than later. It is probably more do the incompetence of this front office than the fact we brought in too many guards. Bones and LeVert are just salary filler and won't be in the team long-term

This summer we'll find out very quickly if Trae Young is still on board with the vision the Hawks are building here.

Are the emergence of Okongwu, Jalen and Dyson enough to make TY believe he can contend here moving forward?

Hawks reportedly pursuing multiple established players at this trade deadline either feels like a humongous con job...or acts of desperation to convince Trae that they are at least trying to bring another All Star caliber player.

I hope so. This franchise doesn't deserve him.

I really do believe that Hawks will need a top flight post season showing this summer to keep Trae Young committed to the franchise.

Seeing the success De'Andre Hunter is having on a new team, I no longer believe Trae will or should extend with Atlanta this summer.

I do believe the team/franchise is now on pace to survive a Trae Young departure.

a 4 game sample size? sure?
It's easy on a random night over 82 games. Entirely different over the course of a season when teams can game plan and make you a more focal point. Hawks still struggle when Trae sits. I'd be more convinced if we see this level of play on a continual basis over the last 17 or so games when Trae sits.

I was thinking the overall talent level.

Okongwu-Jalen-Risacher-Dyson is a capable supporting cast.

Levert-Mann are great vets to fill in off the bench.

Plus 2 draftees this summer
Plus Kobe in Year 3
Plus whatever haul we get for Trae Young.

I'm not advocating for us to part ways...yet.
But the franchise won't fall apart sans Trae and their own draft picks.

I want more the Hawks to keep adding more talent, not subtracting.
I have no trust in Kobe year 3.

You're right. it's a capable supporting cast for.... Trae Young. We should've had a group of guys like this around Trae a long time ago. The quartet mentioned above is just oozing with talent and upside. The fit is also strong. Add Levert, Mann, and Niang off the bench with Mo improving and a legit 7 footer, and we're a well round team with depth.

Exactly! If Ressler was ever serious about paying for a championship roster, this would be the core to do it for. I completely understood dumping Collins and eventually moving on from Hunter because those guys weren't real needle movers. JJ and Dys both move the needle with a Trae Young leading them. Zacch is making that #1 selection look very justifiable. Keep adding to this group please.
