Well this sucks. Miami will probably be in full tank mode by March 8th trying to get extra ping pong balls, but you never know what might happen when you try to win it again.

Well, there's something wrong with the stats people at Phillips Arena. Last year they didn't credit fthe Raptors for a basket, then we got this issue. I think it's just fair. Though I hate that we got to play the 52 secs left, i believe it just makes sense.

Isn't that the game where D-Whistle got all the calls and the game where Shaq basically hit Marvin in the face while going for a block in OT and didn't get a foul? The league and the Heat are a joke.

This sucks...this was along with the Orlando game was my favorite win of the year.

How is it ridiculous. You have done MAJOR f'ups two years in a row, and your the only organization that has been found of such screwups. And no its not intentional, but it does not matter.

The NBA does not have any balls; after two screwups the correct decision to get some accountability in the Hawks organization would have been to award the game to the Heat outright. Your very lucky that decision was not made.

Why not award the entire Heat coaching and players a magic lollipop?

That would make as much sense as replaying 1 minute of a game months later. Nevermind the fact that Shaq would have been pulled after the free throws and now he'll be rested. Nevermind the fact that both teams will be playing the game cold.

I think its probably the correct decision. The Hawks scorers screwed up massively in ejecting Shaq. As I recall they were even told about the error and still didn't do anything about it. (which makes it different than when the raptors were shorted a basket) It shouldn't matter to the league whether it was the best player on the court on the worst one- a player was barred for playing for no reason other than incompetence of the home scorers. Though I think it would be really funny if Shaq turns out to be injured for the makeup portion of the game and doesn't play a second of it.

As a neutral observer I could see how this would be a fair decision...but after watching that game...the bad calls were the only reason Miami stayed in the game! If we would have lost that game...I would have protested.That was easily the most one sided officiated game of the year(with Dallas being the worst but for both sides). Go look at the game thread comments.

If the Heat knew about the mistake, which they did, then they should have said something at the time and allowed the scorer's table a chance to correct the mistake. Since they didn't raise the objection at the time, they should lose it. I mean, this is ridiculous. What was Shaq going to do in the final 59 seconds anyway except give the Hawks someone to foul who can't hit a free throw? The Heat often take Shaq out at the end of games for that very reason, so I think they should be barred from removing Shaq in the replay. What sense would it make for the Heat to complain that Shaq fouled out unfairly if in the replay of the game they sit him on the bench?

This is BS. Every team can tell you a game where they could have won a game if not for a mistake by someone not playing on the court. (time keeper, ref, score keeper, etc.) What makes Miami special? Are they going to redo DWades FT's or Shaqs complete plow over Marvin? What a friggin' joke.

Guys, even if the scorekeepers blew this one, you don't replay the game over one missed call. There were plenty of opportunities to call fouls on Shaq that were ignored by the refs.

A more reasonable punishment would have been the mandated firing of the scorekeeping staff.

thats what makes the mistake even worse. the hawks statisticians WERE told about the mistake and still didn't fix it.

Yes exactly..it's a joke decision. I remember when they called Dirk for a foul vs. Wade in game 5 of the finals(it was an and 1 to tie the game) when it was really Devin Harris who committed the "foul"(minimal contact at best). Could Dallas have protested that?

I just don't see how one scoring error can be protested but yet we ignore the other calls in the game.

i don't mind that they did this..... just make sure that they replay this at the END of the next meeting, and not before the start.

Right- the fact that the score keepers were told about it at the time and didn't fix it is what takes it to a new level as far as I am concerned. If no one told them at the time then tough luck- when they are told about it, reiterate that there is no problem and then later find out there was thats when you have crossed the line. This wasn't a judgement call, this wasn't something that no one noticed, it was sheer incompetence.
