If we can not re sign J chill is he a optional swing player off the bench next
year? I think min didn't pick up his opt next year.

I like his game though he still needs some work. He can score some, something our team desperately needs. I'd give him a shot.

Definitely. He made a lot of 3s as a rookie and shot a good percentage from 3. He has so much elevation on his shot that it is practically impossible to block. Plus he is very athletic and will fit in with our running game.

He has a great jump shot and I think he could be an okay backup for JJ. I would only want him cheap.

Has the worse Basketball IQ I have ever seen.
He has talent though. I really like him and hopefully he could get in the good coaching situation. He could be a special player if he could just "get it".
But with that said, Smooves basketball IQ wasn't anything to brag about when he came out and he is worlds better now. I think when Green gets the right coach he could be a damn fine player.

i have a good feeling that gerald green is going to end up on the san antonio spurs. he's from texas and the spurs are starting to look at life beyond tim duncan. put gerald with pop and the others and he'll shine as bruce bowen goes into retirement.

Green is a lot like Josh in that he was a raw super-athlete that came out of high school and ended up being taken a lot later than people thought he would be. They both also won the dunk comp.
Similarities end there because when Josh got the A he worked his ass off to prove Bilas and the teams that didn't pick him wrong whereas Gerald has apparently just chilled.

Gerald has apparently just chilled.
But he can shoot 3s, and we are the worst 3 pt shooting team in the league.
it will only get worse next year when AJ, Lue and Salim hit the road.

I agree, I wasn't commenting on his ability, just on how he coulda been like Smith.
I wouldn't waste much money on him but if we can get him for cheap and we lose chil then why not. He hits the 3 and can score in transition. Doesn't really do anything else but we need to save dough for our big guns so we can't worry as much about getting the "perfect" backup.

You could just do a trade now.

zaza
Soloman Jones
or a protected 1st

I think we have a player that's as effective or nearly as effective in Salim. Their games have their differences, but overall I think they have about the same impact on the game. Salim obviously isn't as big or as athletic, but he's much more skilled.

I wouldn't mind Green or Jarvis Hayes for that backup 2/3 position. That could really save money so we could chase a PG like Calderon or Udrih.

I agree there. But Gerald has the tools to be so much more.
I am not knocking the kid, because he plays hard as hell, its just he gets so lost on the offense and defensive side of the ball. He can score it. And if you made him the featured option on the offensive end, I don't doubt that he wouldnt be a 23-25 point per game scorer(with a lower field goal percentage). But they would try to run the kid off screens in Boston and he would get lost. On defense, you throw a screen at him and he is lost.
I don't know if its coaching or the player. Al Jefferson did get much better in Boston, but there were some others there that didn't develop as much as you would expect, so maybe a little bit of both.

The reason Salim can't get in the game is that he has a shooting guards game in a pg body. He can't play the point on offense. when he plays the 2 he is at a big size disadvantage.
Green has the size to play the 2 and the 3.
Green came into the league out of HS and is a career 37.1% from 3. Salim played in college 4 years and is a career 36.3% from 3.

Salim can't get into the game because he's always hurt and Woodson hates him.
For the record, my post didn't mean I have a high opinion of Salim, it means I have a low opinion of Green.

Salim can't get into the game because all he supposedly can do is shoot and hes shooting like 35%.
