Post#1 » by JoshB914 » Sun Jan 27, 2008 9:04 pm

I'm not good with the pictures, but thought we should get a thread going. Just two hours to tip off.

Hopefully it's as good as the game at Phillips. I'm not expecting a win....I just hope we play hard and avoid making dumb turnovers down the stretch.

It's at Portland guys. Portland is favored to win by 5.5.

Portland will look to start another home streak.

Our starters are better than theirs, but their bench blows ours away. Hopefully tonight isn't as bad as last time.

Lues scoring numbers are meaningless. His defense KILLS us. Rodriguez BLEW by him as if he were a chair on like 5-6 occasions.

At this point we need to just keep Anthony Johnson and Acie Law on the court. Lue makes me sick! Woody allows Lue to do whatever and doesn't have patience with the young Hawks.

We're definitely outworking Portland...we're killing them inside on both ends of the court and forcing them to shoot jumpshots. Every one has done a good job except Zaza and Lue. Portland almost made a run to get back in the game but Lue got taken out. I love how Acie forced Sergio to shoot jumpers when he blew by Lue repeatedly. Hey Woody how about more Mario West instead of Lue and Shelden/Solo instead of Zaza.

Good half. Keep playing hard and keep Zaza and Lue on the bench. We also need to do better on closing out their shooters..Steve Blake missed like 3 wide open threes that he usually hits.

This is what we need this team to do. JJ be a star, get production from AJ, Smoove do the dirty work, and everyone else just scrap and fight for every play.

That block is automatic for Josh. You can tell if he's going to block it our not way before it happens. We're killing them on defense. Crappy way to end the half with that three point play, though. It's so dumb how the only play Mario gets is the 3 seconds before the end of a quarter. You can't expect him to just come in and lock down a great player.

Two Things:

1. Salim is from Portland... can he get a little playing time at home?!!!?
2. When AJ plays like he did in that first half.... we don't need no PG!!!

At least Woody had the sense to pull him. Lue wasn't even trying to stay in front of Sergio.

Portland is showing the downside of relying so heavily on jump shots. When their jump shooting is off they struggle to score.

The Hawks are the opposit. They get a lot of easy points from fast breaks and foul shots. If they just shoot their jump shots half decently they will score well. Unfortunately that hasn't happened very often.

That was an ok third quarter. I expected to be up by less than 10 going into the 4th.

Interesting...That's def. a clear path. Is it possible to be a clear path AND a flagrant? Jones just tried to make a good foul but he made no attempt to go for the ball.

Good game for Acie. He has played good defense on Sergio and has yet to make a mistake. I just wish he could play this every game off the bench...he usually only plays like this when he starts.
