It's not about the initial iso call... i'm ok with that, but you gotta think beyond "iso and take the shot". Joe draws alot of attention. That means somebody's open. I'm sure if Joe looked for it, there's probably a wide open shot underneath the basket for somebody else.

Actually JJ could have passed the ball off when we were up 2. Instead he drove to his weak hand and shot a stupid fadeaway. It's his responsibility to pass out of a double team.

But isn't also Woody's fault to see that Portland knows we are calling iso plays for JJ, to see that they are playing closer defense, and to see that JJ isn't on? Woody should have seen that sooner and called for maybe AJ to take a 3 when he was on fire, or set up a play for Marvin and Smith.

Defense is tighter at the end. All the teams run isos for their stars down the stretch. But the mistake Woody made is he thought JJ was one.

He just so happens to be 3rd in the league in 4th quarter scoring. He also played 44 minutes tonight on a bad leg.

The mistake Woody made tonight is the same mistake he has been making every time we get a lead in the 4th quarter.

I am not surprised that you are unable to see it though.

Lots of team run iso's at the end of games but they don't start running them with 6 minutes left in the game.

Josh...Joe is not why we lost the game. It's the mindset this team has and that falls on Woody. Go rewatch the 1st and 2nd quarters. We were running on every Portland miss and we even pushed the ball up the court quickly AFTER Portland baskets on occasion. I don't see how it's possible to blame Joe for the team losing a NINETEEN point lead. Even if Joe would have hit that last shot and we won...there would still be a disturbing recurring trend that we always let the other team back in the game. How can you not blame the coach for this?

Yet our backup center and head coach always seems to get the blame.

Are you just not getting it through your head JoshB? Who called iso plays for Josh about 10 times down the stretch? How can you blame JJ but not Woody?

JJ should have made a couple plays and given up the ball when doubled, but Woody was also putting him in a position to fail miserably. He is the most inflexible offensive coach I have seen. I'm sure Woodson will find a way to blame this loss on our defense. That's all the guy ever thinks about.

Please ASG, bring us an offensive minded coach!

You score when you run you dunce. You don't score when you slow it down. SO DON'T SLOW IT DOWN.

So true... they stop looking for opportunities to run when they get big leads like they had. They settle for walking the ball up court, and relying on the shaky at best halfcourt offense.

I'm going to bring up JJ every time he plays terribly because he isn't supposed to be doing that. JJ should be the most criticized guy on this board. Yet our backup center and head coach always seems to get the blame.

He's a complentary player plain and simple.

Because his blind hate of JJ, which was apparent last season, renders him incapable of seeing everthing else that is going on.

I blame Woody. I just put more responsibility on our players. And especially our "best player."

I'm really starting to agree.... I didn't want to think it, but Joe just isn't explosive enough. And when I say explosive, I mean he doesn't play with that fire. He not the type of player to impose his will on a game. To refuse to let his team lose.... he's a great scorer when teams don't double him all night, but he doesn't play with that fire. Being a good scorer just makes him another Shareef Abdur Rahim... he's gonna get his points, but he doesn't impose himself on the game. We need an explosive #1 option.

Well said, JJforprez. I didn't want to see that either. It's never a good feeling to realize your star doesn't want it bad enough.

Better yet, does Woody realize JJ 's ankle is not 100%?

Why would you run him for 45 minutes?

I tried to tell you all of this before. Nobody wants to listen. So now you can take this loss and choke on it.

Hes not talking about explosiveness in those terms. He means in body language, Joe just didnt give off that vibe. Brandon Roy isnt even close to being as good as Joe Johnson talent wise, but he has that fire in his eyes that killer instinct that Joe has lacked his whole career.

If JJ iis that bad because of his injury he should not be playing. Wade has played hurt all season and produced. That is the difference between a good and a great player. JJ is not a great player. And he hasn't even been a good player this seaosn.
