Dallas:
Outgoing: Dampier, Hassell, Terry, 1st 08
Incoming: Zaza, Kidd
They get Kidd and replace more or less Dampier with a younger but softer C.
NJ:
Outgoing: Kidd, A Wright
Incoming: Dampier, AJ , Childress, Dal 1st, ATL 2nd
They get rid of Kidd's salary, get a solid C, a vet PG, a young combo talent and a couple of late picks...starting the rebuilding process.
ATL
Outgoing: Zaza, AJ, Chil, 2nd (may have to add Salim for NJ)
Incoming: Terry, Wright
ATL gets a PG who can score and who now has playoff experience to compliment JJ. An expiring back-up combo to replace Chil.
Terry-Law- Lue
JJ- Terry- Mario
Marvin- Wright
Smith- Shelden- Solo
Horford- LWright- Solo
What do you think?

We need a guy like Terry and I like Wright, but I'm not sure this trade works for the other two teams.

I am sorry...we NEED a guy like Terry? A undersized two guard that pretends to be a point and plays bad D....hmmmm...where have I seen one of those.
If NJ would take that crappy package we might as well offer them AJ, Lue, Wright, Zaza Childress for Kidd and Boone. They would save like 13-14 million in cap space and have a "big" in Zaza with a okay contract.

Wow I really liked the trade until I read what Jersey was getting back in return. Dampier on a rebuilding team? The Mavs' very late 1st round pick? Chil who would likely sign for the MLE on another team? That's pretty bad for them and I think Kidd is overrated.

We need an experienced player that can make plays and hit shots.

Totally agree with Guru. Nets can and will receive more for Kidd. I agree that Terry is far from a pass-first pg, but IMO he's an able pg. With JJ he would form a great tandem. And yes, he CAN play D. For some reason, people on this board seem to think that no pg in the league can play D.

New Jersey is better off letting Jason walk when he becomes a free agent. I don't see ANY reason why they would want to acquire a Dampier when he has a long term contract that's going to hold them back.
Jason Terry back playing for Atlanta? Do you not remember how bad his defense is and how small he is?

There are other contracts on Dallas less painful than Dampier to take on for Jersey. The key to being middle man is valuing Jason Terry as a PG as converting him to expirings. While Terry would help with some things on offense, his overall game is questionable. I don't think I'd want to invest 9M per year in him given his previous history here. We can do better in that price range.

I briefly flirted with the idea of us taking on Dampier to be the 3rd party in the trade and pick up other assets like a 1st round pick, Marcus Williams, and Brandon Bass. We could use Zaza, Shelden, and Lo Wright to convert him into essentially a 1 year deal for Jersey. While he would help us more this year than the players we'd give up, his contract is so BAD (and long) that it would be silly to do such a move.
If Kidd is going to wind up in Dallas, NJ (or a third party) will have to possess a higher opinion of some of Dallas's players than I do because of their price tags.
