ESPN.com Game Preview
The Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks have both enjoyed periods of success this season, but those times are long gone.
The Clippers and Hawks both try to get back on track when they begin the second halves of their respective seasons on Wednesday at Staples Center.
Los Angeles (13-28.) opened this season with four consecutive victories for the first time since 1985-86, joining Western Conference-leading New Orleans and Eastern Conference-leading Boston as the only other teams to start 4-0.
While the Hornets and Celtics still lead their respective conferences, very little has gone right for the Clippers since their strong start. Los Angeles, which has the fourth-worst record in the West, has just nine victories since Nov. 9, with none of them coming consecutively.
The Hawks (18-23), meanwhile, have had only slightly more recent success than the Clippers. Atlanta had the East's fourth-best record on Dec. 26 at 14-12, but has lost 11 of 15 since to fall to seventh place in the conference.
The Hawks are coming off their most lopsided defeat of the season, a 125-92 loss at Phoenix on Tuesday. Atlanta, which lost for its sixth time in seven games, shot a season-low 34.3 percent from the floor while allowing the Suns to shoot an opponent season-high 64.2 percent.
Marvin Williams scored 18 points to lead the Hawks.
"We just didn't show up tonight," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said. "Marvin (Williams) was pretty good tonight, he competed. The other four guys didn't compete and it showed across the board. (We) should be embarrassed."
Joe Johnson, who is averaging a team-high 21.3 points, shot just 3-for-14 from the field and managed nine points. Johnson, who is averaging just 13.8 points on 31.3 percent shooting in his last four games, had 27 points in each of Atlanta's two games against Los Angeles last season.

Welcome to LA boys. Let's do this!
Let's debate the vantage points between going to this one and watching it on TV shall we?
I could go to the game
Or I could watch it on TV
I could go to the game
Or I could watch it on TV
I could go to the game
Or I could watch it on TV
I could go to the game
Or I could watch it on TV
Hell I'll even throw one in for the Older Viagra Generation out there
Still having a tough time deciding?
On the Hawks side of this game it's pretty simple
It's getting Ugly, Real Ugly!
An That is all I half too say Abowt Thayt
Woodson Watch: Game 4
Since the Woodson Watch began the Hawks are 1-2. Those two losses were horrendous. The Hawks blew an 18 point 2nd half lead against Portland and failed to get off the team bus in Phoenix. Woodson can't hang on forever at this pace.
The Good News: Somebody has to win this game.
Why not us?
Viva la Hawks!

Anyone else here think some players are trying to get Woody canned?

the cbs website had a story saying that Atlanta should trade Smith for Kidd because Smith wouldn't resign if Woody were still here next season. Personally I don't think they know what the **** they are talking about, but it doesn't change the fact that Woody has had more clashes with his players than any extremely unsuccessful coach should be allowed.
As usual, good thread.
I hope Al picks up some tips from Kaman on finding his inner offensive aggression. The rest of the guys, just wake up.

The rumor of Smith not resigning with the Hawks because of Woody may or may not be true...but if Josh Smith doesn't like Woodson what makes you think that Kidd would like him? Kidd didn't even like Byron Scott or Scott Skiles and is unhappy as we speak.

I think they hit rock bottom tonight and hang a 78 on the scoreboard.

and w/o Smoove we don't have the pieces to win now.
Plus we'd have to come up with 19 million in contracts to send their way. Ain't happening.

I wouldn't sweat conjecture by some moron from sportsline, the worst of the online analysts.

Nice thread gsu. Yes, i think the guys are playing to get Woody fired. At least I hope so, this horrid basketball can't be for real.
If Kaman doesn't play i guess we win. Not easily, for it's never easy for the Hawks to win.

Earlier today the Hawks were favored to win by 1.5, now it's 3.5, which means the money has been going on the Hawks for a large portion of the day.
The O/U is 186.5
I seriously doubt the Hawks players are trying to get Woodson fired. We are currently struggling to hold on to the 7th playoff spot, but the last thing Joe would want to see is this team giving up, and for a stupid reason like getting Woody fired. You can see the drive to win (Except for the Phoenix game), but we are just not getting the job done, and I expect us to bounce out of this bad streak very soon.

Clipper fan here.
Haha, I wish that was our lineup. Maggette, Kaman, and Thornton are all sick and are questionable for tonight. If that's the case, that leaves us with EIGHT healthy players, half of which are third stringers.
You guys should have no problem beating us tonight. Damn, this is sad.

Did you see last night's game? We play like that again and your third stringers will look like all-stars.

Wow i was wondering why we were favored. We'll take all the help we can get right now.

Also I don't think the players are trying to get Woodson fired, but I don't think any of them would be sad if it happened. I've often suspected Woodson of coaching like he wants to get fired, but I'm sure it wasn't premeditated stupidity on his part.

Damn, i forgot the Clippers were in the NBA. They should only beat us by 25 then.

What would be really sweet would be if Woodson was fired and Knight was forced to coach the mess he created, a la Isiah Thomas...

Would he share his strategy with the players or would he give them the silent treatment like he does the fan base?

Orlando spanked Miami, Toronto spanked Washington, Philly ate Milwaukee alive, Chicago loses to Minnesota, Charlotte just underway.
I think the worst we can be is tied for 8th when we play Saturday night. Most of the Eastern Conference appear allergic to winning just like us.

Hey guys, good luck tonight.
Sucks that Maggs, Kaman, and Thornton are banged up right now (although Thornton will play, but don't expect him often).

Good Luck guys. You guys have an even better opportunity against tonight since we'll be without Maggette & Kaman again.
