Considering the current state of the Atlanta Hawks here is some positives to smile about.

Al Horford, Future Bourbon Street Reveler

After seeing deserving Hawks players passed over for the Rookie-Sophomore challenge the last few years, we are happy to note that today Hawks big man Al Horford was named to the Rookie Squad for the upcoming event during All-Star Weekend in New Orleans.

Horford left nothing to chance, as he has played outstanding ball for the Hawks since Day 1 and has been easily the most consistent rookie performer in the entire NBA.

I mentioned this the other day in my midseason review, but it really bothers me that everyone is just handing the ROY to Kevin Durant (though I will give him props for his 26 point performance in their surprising upset over San Antonio last night).

I can only hope that Horford uses All-Star weekend as a platform to show the world how good he is, and maybe people will start to look a little more closely at him as a viable awards candidate.

Either way, congrats to Al for making the team, and I can't wait to see him show the rest of the world what we Hawks fans see from him night after night.

I'm happy to see Al making the Rookie team. Before the season started I thought Law would come into the NBA more prepared to step up than Al (Big men take a bit longer to develop). I mean, I knew the kid was talented, but I'm surprised he's that good. On the other hand, Law should ask himself what's holding him back. It might be our coach or something, but he has not given us what we need at the PG position. He's had some flashes here and there, but I have to say that I'm disappointed with his performance so far.

I'm glad he made the team.

a few random notes
-The rookie team only has 1 pg while the sophmore team has 3...Brewer and Gay will probably have all their teams highlights. I don't think this will be the blowout that the other games were. The rookies also have 3 players that are 27 years old.

- I would have thought Noah would have made it. He's has a good year and he's one of the most recognizeable rookies.

-How did Bargnani make the sophmore team and what is the league's fasination with tall players who can shoot but suck at everything else?

Bargnani made the sophomore team by default. Really competition for the last F/C spot was that poor. I can make a case for Craig Smith, but there is a lot of fizzle in the group.
