Instead of having any extensive practices Coach Woodson should plan some fun for the players when they arrive back in Atlanta after tonights game against the Clippers.

31st and 1st are off days. It would good for the players to enjoy themselves, but do something together, so why not one of the bowling trips that they've done during the past.

Coach Woodson should gain a sense of humor and act as if the players will have a pressing practice on the 1st, let them do some light drills, but have the bus waiting to take them to the bowling alley.

So, it's a statement for the players to put the past behind them, and we can kick things off right for the home stretch.

What Woodson should do, first thing back in Atlanta, is go clear out his office, and go home to wherever.

With 2 whole days off before the next game, this is the perfect time to fire him, and name someone (BK, Drew, whomever) as Interim HC. With important Hawks (JJ, Horford) apparently involved with All Star stuff, that break isn't nearly as good a time to make a change, since two important players may not be there.

Now's the time.

HMFFL, I like the thought, but I'm thinking something with more aggression like Paint Ball or WhirlyBall would be more beneficial. The problem with those is that someone might get hurt.

If Woodson can't reconnect with the team (and I doubt he can) then he really needs to clean out that office. I don't think the Atlanta Spirit could reach agreement on such a drastic (albeit needed) move.

Honestly, Woody should resign.

With blowups with AJ, Zaza and JSmoove, it seems that the team for the most part just doesn't give a damn about what he has to say anymore.

You forgot about tension with Salim and Shelden, Shel hasn't said anything this season but I know they didn't get along last season.

That's a coach having a history of personal issues with at least 5 players on his team. Thats just what we know about too. Wow. I know Woody has gotten the short end of the stick in terms of balanced rosters but this has got to be some kind of record for the most roster players alienated in a two year span.

Maybe the guys that have regressed would be motivated to get back to normal if Woody wasn't in town.

The problem is outside of Woody's realm. As fun as it is to blame Woody, this is an extremely flawed team. No real point guard, no real center (although we could all live with Horford playing center).

Woody can only do so much, but these 'issues' he is having with some of the players is quite sad, actually.

If you went to games last year you know that marvin and woodson would butt heads quite a bit.

Well, I'd say the problem with Horford isn't position but the fact that he is a rookie.

Anyway, if you look at my post I didn't "blame" Mike Woodson for not being a good team. I pointed out that even on other perrenial losers you rarely have the type of animosity between this volume of players and the coach.

I also pointed out that we have stable of young players who have regressed significantly this season, most of which have been suspended by or publicly chastised by Mike Woodson (deserved or not). It could be an ego boost for them to play for a new coach. I didn't say Zaza would become a star if Woody wasn't here, or Shelden would have been an acceptable draft pick, but if you know that they don't get along with the coach and the coach leaves, maybe they play half as well as they did last season?
