Woodson doesn't favor change for change sake

I favor change in the roster not for change sake, but because we lack outside shooting, post defensive height, and penetrating creation. Funny thing is though that I really favor change in the head coach position for changes sake. I think it is apparent that Woodson has now lost the team and we need change before permanent damage is done to the roster (if it isn't already too late).

I don't like how they keep talking about still being in it.... it's like they're using that to excuse how awful they are right now. Everybody's got an opinion about what they need to do, but if they had the answer, I think they would have done it by now. We need a change....Don't they realize we're only in it by default?? They're back peddling, and it's only because the East is so bad, and the fact that the Hawks have played less games than most everybody else, that they're still in it. All it takes is for one of these teams to get on a run, and the Hawks will easily be over-taken. The Hawks could get on a run too, but I really don't think they know where that's going to come from right now without some kind of change.

I'm not sold on firing Woodson right now just for the sake of firing him...things haven't gotten that bad. I don't think it's smart to fire a coach unless you have a specific replacement in mind who you know is an upgrade(Detroit with Brown and Denver with Karl being the best examples). Memphis may have been justified in firing Fratello but they replaced him with a front office guy so they could evaluate all their young players and tank for the draft. I'd fire Woody to let BK coach just for the post game press conferences alone(and seeing how much minutes he would play Shelden). Look back through the years on multiple message boards on this site and you will see fans who want their coach fired no matter what(Sac,Minnesota,Milwaukee,Chicago,Indiana)only to find out that the coaches they fired were actually better than their garbage replacements.

It's a similiar situation to Chicago..Chicago fired Scott Skiles(and the city was happy) because of team chemistry and not playing young players and replaced him with a guy who has the same flaws except that he doesn't get them to play defense and hustle like Skiles did. I believe this will be the case if we were to fire Woodson and go with an interim. I also wouldn't have much faith that the ASG just wouldn't remove the interim tag and hire the replacement to a cheap long term deal.

Jjforprez,

I totally agree with you. Before our excuse was injuries. Now that everybody is back and healthy we found out that this team just isn't that good.

Woody wants a trade that article is funny. He basically saying Dont fire me
and lets make a trade to help my ass.

Well Woody may be a moron as a coach but he probably isn't as a person. He knows that "change for change's sake" means he is going to be the new assistant coach for the Arkansas Rimrockers.

I don't really agree with the Skiles comparison either. He was a good coach, even if you don't agree with that, he was a successful coach in more than one location. Woody can't make that claim.
