Juan Carlos Navarro
10.8 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.2 apg in 24.9 minutes

Kyle Lowry
8.8 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3.5 apg in 24.8 minutes

Mike Miller
16.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 3.7 apg in 37.4 minutes

FOR:

Marvin Williams
16.9 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.9 apg in 36.2 minutes

Speedy Claxton
No games yet played in 2007/08
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Memphis finishes its implosion and sheds its last major contributors not name Gay. Atlanta gets a proven scorer in Miller and a good young PG in Lowry. Memphis takes back Claxton and his awefull contract but get a good young gun in Williams who ould be the teams starting SF instantly. JCN is an expiring but could be subbed for the lakers 1st rounder. What do

Well, it would never happen because of Speedy's health, but let's ignore that for the sake of discussion.

I would counter with:
Marvin Williams
Shelden Williams
Speedy Claxton
for
Mike Miller
Kyle Lowry
Hakim Warrick
2008 Lakers 1st

What say you Grizzfan?

I looked into Warrick but he is our starting PF now...my deal would leave the grizz with at least his offensive game.

Grizz, post my trade...

C-Milicic
PF-Warrick
SF-M. Williams
SG-Gay
PG-Conley

And the grizz will get a top 5 pick that could be Greene or Beasley to be the PF. Also your deal would make Shelden useless for us as he is not uptempo at all.

JCN is a free agent this summer and might look togo to a spanish team or to LA so would you still do it or could he be cut out.

JCN would help us a ton right now. We really need a shooter on this team to take the pressure off of JJ. You guys aren't going to sign him back in Memphis? I've liked what I've seen in him.

He just is burried in our bench.

Good offer but here are some things you need to consider.

1. Navarro probably wouldn't want ti re-sign in Atlanta. I also don't think he's going to re-sign in Memphis. You have to remember that the only reason he came to Memphis was because his friend played there.

2. Marvin plays the same exact position as Gay and is due for a new contract soon. Miller's contract is pretty good for his production and Marvin might ask for more than that. A rebuilding team like Memphis will also not take on Speedy especially with Cardinal already on the roster.

The only way Memphis would do this is if they think Gay could play the 2.

I would definitely do it.

Don't sleep on Shelden in an up tempo situation. He can run the floor and rebound, he just doesn't get the PT to show it. Not a deal breaker though.

Going back to the original deal and I'm conflicted. Long term I prefer the late 1st to JCN just because as HG25 said that he probably wouldn't resign so he'd be a rental for the end of the season. I'm sure he would help this season, but I not sure how much as Miller already takes some of the shooting pressure of Joe.

I would do the deal and take the late 1st as a fiscal responsible way to add a bench contributor next season. I think Miller and Lowry get us into the playoffs this year. The removal of Speedy's contract and Marvin allows us to afford Miller and resign Josh Smith.

Of course, the Speedy portion of the deal probably wouldn't occur and without that cap relief I'm don't think the Marvin for Miller portion gets done.

Another trade to consider would be:
Josh Childress
Salim Stoudamire
Lo Wright
2010 1st rounder
for
Mike Miller
Kyle Lowry

Childress is ready to start and would thrive in a up tempo system. He can also play the 2 guard better allowing Gay to stay at the 3. The only teams that could offer him more than MLE are Atlanta and Philadelphia, so he would likely be resignable at roughly the MLE or be useful in a sign and trade. Worst case you renounce him and he becomes another expiring contract. The other 2 players are expiring. Lowry is fetching the 1st rounder (2010 is the first year we can deal one). It's not as sexy as acquiring a former #2 pick (Chill was a #6 pick), but it also doesn't involve taking on 11M in bad salary.

I'm totally against trading Marvin. He's not a problem here, he's done a good job at SF. The kid is only going to get better. We do not have a reason to trade him. Not only one. I was thinking the other day that while some think this team will be Smith's team in the future, I'm more inclined to say Marvin wil be the man here. I think the guy we wanted from Memphis is gone. AJ - JJ- Marvin- Horfod- Gasol would be nice. The funny thing is, Gasol puts LA in a championship contender position, but some fans here think he was not good enough for the Hawks if Smith had to be traded. Crazy !

LOL..That sounds like a great idea. Trade Josh Smith for Gasol when no team offered anywhere anything close to a player of Smith's value. Why would you trade Josh Smith when other teams offered garbage? Did you hear reports of Portland offering Aldridge or Chicago offering Deng? That would be dumber than trading two unprotected picks for Eddy Curry. Good gm's don't go out their way to overbid what the rest of the market is offering.

It's a bit different now, MEM wanted cash, LA would want talent.

I'm not sure I understand your logic here. Gasol makes LA a contender, therefore the Hawks should have traded Smith for him?

So Marv will only get better so we have no reason to trade him but this same logic doesn't apply to Smith?

Gay is very versatile and plays the 2 a lot. Williams can hold down the 3 with a future pick fir the 4/5

And I knew JCN was a FA in a few months which is why I made the 1st rounder option.
