Horf has played a little tentative since Ford's injury...not tonight. He was committing hard fouls and dunking on people left and right. Hopefully this can carry over for the rest of the year.

Congrats to Al. He is turning into even more of a surprise than I originally thought.

Horford is everything that I hoped shelden would be. Speaking of Shelden
why cant our #5 pick get of the bench?

I deleted my original post because this thread should be about how excellent Al is playing rather than how disappointing the wasting of a #5 draft pick is. Al continues to deliver. Does anyone worry about the rookie wall? I mean he has played a lot of minutes.

I love Horford's game. He's tied 2nd with Marvin, only behind JJ on my favorite player list. He's got success written all over him. At least BK got that one right !

Horford looks a lot more dangerous on offense as a center when we have good ball movement. Smith has started to draw doubles and Horford is such a good finisher that when Smith hits him with a quick dish Al usually either finishes or gets fouled, no Shelden Williams style getting blocked by the rim.

He is a tough kid, I like the way he and Josh work together in the frontcourt. I also see him evolving into a real tough post defender because of his strength and body type.

Horford is my favorite player on the team. He still need to get better on offense. He show many signs of getting better. He is averaging 9 pg. It doesn't sound impressive until you realize he is the 4th and most often 5th option on the team.

Best talent we've had since Dominique. Huge man-crush I'm developing on Al...

I had a feeling when we drafted him that he could turn into an Amare of sorts. I don't know that he will ever be the scorer Amare is, but he will definitely board and play great defense to go with some solid scoring. I couldn't be happier with his play thus far and feel he will be a franchise player for this team. Also, I love the idea of Smoove playing PF next to him. They will be a dynamic duo in the post for a long time. Give them a solid PG and good shooters, and you got a contender. I like Marvin with them, and what's not to like about JJ. Now, if only we could get that PG... ;).

Josh, Joe and Marvin may disagree with him being the best talent, but if he keeps playing like he did last night, going up STRONG and playing tough of D, he may be my favorite.

It is nice that Horford hits the boards because we need that. But i can't get too excited about a guy averaging 9 ppg. His PER is currently the same as Diop.

I have been saying Al needs to attempt more field goals all year long. However, he's started off this month with double digits attempts during all three games, and we have won all three.

Diop's not the player Al is right now and never will be. Al's much further along and Diop doesn't have the skill or knowledge to ever do what Al has done at this point.

He's going to grow as a player as the season progresses. He's a undersized 5 that's not use to playing against the overall larger players. He's doing a amazing job as far as I'm concerned and he's going to become the beast we need on offense.

He really has it down on defense from boxing out and just putting him self into position to grab the rebounds. Many of the players have relied on their size to grab the boards, while Al has had to improve his game to gain the advantage, and I love his determination out there.

Al's still not the shot blocker I want him to be, but I feel he's going to get there, and his shot blocking at the NBA level was my only concern before the draft. Playing at the 4 would improve his shot blocking, however he's our 5, and he's still doing a very impressive job.

Al has the luxury of not worrying about shotblocking with Smith next to him.

Screw Diop. Horford is leagues better.

How many minutes has Acie played the last two games?

Horford has been getting big minutes from the opening game. Give Acie those kind of minutes then we can judge his game more clearly.

How so? On a PER 40 basis Horford averages .77 more rebounds per game than Diop. Diop is a much better shot blocker and defends big players better than Horford while Horford scores better.

I don't see how Horford is leagues better since their PER is nearly identical.

What does he do on offense other than dunk? He shoots a stand still jumper and a jump hook. Predictable as sunrise which is why he is easy to defend.
