ESPN.com Hawks-Cavs Preview

The Cavs (27-21) will again be without reserve forward-center Anderson Varejao, who is sidelined for at least two more weeks with a sprained left ankle. He's averaging a career-high 8.5 rebounds.

"When you have 20 rebounds not here, it obviously hurts," James said.

With Gooden and Varejao missing, Cleveland was outrebounded 55-35 in the loss to the Rockets. James made 12 of 23 shots for 32 points and grabbed seven rebounds, but the rest of the team went 19-for-55 (34.5 percent) from the floor.

Atlanta, meanwhile, is looking to close out a four-game homestand by trying to match its season-high four-game winning streak set from Dec. 15-26. The Hawks followed that winning only four of their next 16 before their current surge.

The winning streak reached three games on Wednesday with a 98-95 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers behind rookie Al Horford's 15 points and season-high 20 rebounds. The former Florida star is providing a strong presence in the paint, averaging 9.2 points and 9.9 boards.

"Coach just wanted us to be solid inside and try to establish the paint, and just defend and rebound," said Horford, who had 10 points and 15 boards against Cleveland on Jan. 9. "That's what I tried to stick to and that's what we tried to do as a team."

Joe Johnson, Atlanta's leader with 21.0 points per game, is looking to build on his 28-point performance from Wednesday, which matched his total from the previous two games when he shot 11-for-32 (34.4 percent).

The guard scored 29 points in the last contest against the Cavs.

Is this guy not a dead ringer for Greg Oden minus

Samuel Jackson was the best in Pulp Fiction...."Say what again, I dare you, i double dare you."

"We're going to be like 3 Fonzies."

"I've been through too much over this case already to just hand it over to your dumb ass."

"I'm just going to walk the earth, like Cain in Kung Fu."

In other news Varejao and Pavlovic are definitely out, Gibson (hammy) and Gooden (groin) are iffy.

We've played these guys enough to know whats up. Just don't let Bron go too crazy in the fourth. Without Andy they are missing their big advantage in the second unit, he can't embarrass Zaza on the boards if he ain't playing. As usual this is about good Hawks/bad Hawks; who's gonna show up. Hope they aren't too wiped from the Laker game.

Nice thread, one more time ;) (thought you would use Samuel L. Jackson for a DET game and Sheed)

Now, back to last week:

If they are losses....I feel the time will be appropriate to relief Woody of his coaching duties. We are 3-12 since we were 15-12 in mid December.
Let's try and go 3-1 on this 4 home game stand.....key word being TRY!
If Woody can't give me THREE THIS WEEK, I gotta send him packing.
We need three wins Woody!
Not One, not two, but THREE!!

fo_o_fo_404, it seems like Woody he's hearing you !!!

Let's continue Woody !!! We need FOUR !!!

How many of the people that cheered for Kobe "unforced turnover" Bryant are going to be doint the same crap for Bron. If I were Smith or Joe I'd want to leave after being booed at the line during a close home game.

While extremely tall Chinese people with Herman Munster haircuts have a large target on their head for someone like me I won't be doing a Houston thread.

FYI

Somebody who hasn't tried one yet step up to the plate!

I don't think it will be that bad. A lot of kids grew up here just being Lakers fans. They're on TV all the time and are winners. With the Cavs there are a lot of Lebron fans, but I don't think there will be all that many cheering for the entire Cavs team.

Divisional Games Tonight:

Los Angeles @ Orlando

New Jersey @ Charlotte

Washington @ Denver

It could be a good night for Atlanta, but we need to win first.

Since Dallas thinks he's to good to post the line and O/U today.

Atlanta favored to win by 3.5 points.

O/U is 186.5

I'll try to step to the plate for a Houston thread. I was planning on vegging tomorrow anyway.

We are 4 pt favorites tonight (Caesar's) 187 is the o/u.

Opening line for tomorrow is Houston by 8 (ouch).

Ouch is right. Dead legs and a back 2 back. Another reason why we need to win tonights game because the upcoming games are going to be very difficult. Even the Charlotte game will be a test for us, it always is.
