Another trade for a washed up star. I would rather have Harris personally but... whatever.

I wonder if there is anyway to snag Diop from Jers.

Be honest COB

You would rather have Harris for the long term, not to win the championship the next 2 years.
Dallas is really rolling the dice, but they are showing that they want to win now..........unlike what we are seeing here by the entire organization.
Everyone be patient because the team we have assembled will make you proud...........one day.

JKidd will help that team because they apparently don't see something they need to see in Harris: someone who makes the components around him better.

I don't know if I agree to the proposed trade, but they aren't telling their fans to be patient. Its about now.

The 34-17 Mavs are 7-5 without Harris so they do better with him than without him - makes teamates better. Harris is a better defender and shooter than Kidd and the Dallas system hardly ever utilizes the fast break.

Plus they lose a ton of valuable bench players. Looks like a bad trade to me.

This trade is kinda stupid.

Unlike the suns trade where it was worth the risk, they were going to lose Marion anyway, and they are going to get 20 million off their books in a season where big time free agents will be available(and are in a desirable location), this trade doesn't help the Mavs at all.

the Mavs problems this year has been they have no depth...so they traded what little depth they had for one player.

Howard, Harris, Dirk and Stackhouse could create their own offense with ease, so its not like their halfcourt offense was struggling. Harris for Kidd seems like a almost lateral move, only that Harris was a better scorer and Kidd is a better rebounder and passer. But they gave up ALOT to get him. Just don't see it working.

The bright side is that you can fill out the roster with D-Leaguers and Kidd will make them look like a million bucks.

I think this trade makes NJ immensely better, which sucks. Kidd's a star, but I think Harris fits the rest of the talent better. Stackhouse gives scoring off the bench. Diop and Swift (other deal) help make their interior D more credible.

I not sure if it really helps Dallas enough. I like their resulting product better than Phoenix, but not as much as a healthy San Antonio and not as much as the new look Lakers.

Who'll be the next Western power to go for an upgrade?

Remember when Kidd was a FA?

He had a legit chance to go to SA, and if he had gone, he probably would have 2 rings now.
Such as life though, as SA stuck with their young PG.

They also included 2 first rounders!

I guess it shows you that Dallas does not value draft picks.

They will need Stackhouse if they can get him back. He is instant offense for them when Terry is off some nights.

Anyway we can get Harris Marcus Williams or The Jet out of this trade going down?

I hope this trade doesn't go down exactly like this. We need to find a way to get Devin Harris!

I'm not interested in the Jet, but I'd give Harris or Williams at shot at the job.

Wow that's a decent return for Jersey . Harris and two first round picks...not to mention that Diop,Stack, and maybe George could be rotation players some where else. Harris by himself has a chance to be really good...I'm suprised they gave him up. Risky move by the Mavs. My favorite thing about this trade is that Diop just became easier to get for the MLE.

Sounds like Stack goes right back to Dallas

according to a couple of reports and comments on Dallas Realgm.

Have you seen the Mavs salaries? They have to be near the Knicks in outgoing paychecks.

They still have to finish paying Finley; how would you like to be in that slot and he comes into town and plays against you. Talk about a koosh deal?

They now have 2 near or over 20M and 3 near 9M with 3 years left each.
They are seriously paying the bucks!

You won't see that here with ASG.

Looks like D George is using his no trade clause to block the trade. How does a clown like him have a no trade clause?

It's written into the CBA that you can't trade players signed for 1 year vet. min's w/o their approval.

It was a carrot thrown to the veterans when the CBA was structured. It just happened to annoy Mark Cuban this particular instance.

You know if we wanted to we could help out the process a bit we could.

Atlanta sends
Lo Wright (Lue works also)
Salim Stoudamire (Solomon works also)

Dallas
for
DeSagana Diop
Eddie Jones

Dallas
ships
Harris, Stackhouse, Ager, Howard (expiring), Lue (expiring), cash, picks
to
New Jersey
Jason Kidd
Malik Allen

Separate deal
2nd rounder for Antoine Wright to make the rosters work.

Diop is just an expiring deal for NJ, NJ doesn't want Jones because he isn't expiring. We take Jones 1yr 2M to get rights to Diop now.

For NJ, they wanted Diop and George's expiring deals instead they take Lo Wright and Juwan Howard. If they really want to sign Diop in the off season it wouldn't work, if they just want a reasonable expiring deal that fits, we got that.

DeSagana Diop is far from being the upgrade we need. He has a extremely low basketball IQ and has yet to prove he can become productive on the court. His rebounding and blocks don't make up for his mistakes.

Just getting size for some matchups off the bench. Not looking for a starting C and massive changes. Other moves needed to fix other problems.

Coach Woodson doesn't have the patience to deal with Diop and he would ge the Shelden Williams treatment. Woody needs to use what he has at this point and we need to pursue other bigs for our bench.

I do feel some size on our bench is a must.
