Rumors abound that Ben Gordon is on the block. Possibly sending him to New Orleans for Rasual Butler. Huh?
Just for discussion sake:
Josh Childress and Solomon Jones
for
Ben Gordon
works in trade checker.
Chicago would get size in the back court and a cheaper resign than Gordon. Solomon gives them an athletic big, but they could have Salim if they prefer.
Ben Gordon wouldn't be easy to resign, but would help our 4th quarter woes now! If Memphis still has Mike Miller in the off season I could see working a sign and trade if they are the big chaser of Gordon.
If it is matter of not wanting to deal with a free agent (still trying to understand Rasual), then we could offer Zaza and Lue for Gordon and Adrian Griffin. That gives them better size and moves Griffin's non-expiring contract.
P.S. - Gordon expects to be back Feb. 20th.
Shake it up with Chicago. New idea.

Gordon's an interesting possibility. He's definitely not the PG we've all been crying for, but he's definitely the shooter/scorer we need. Maybe it'd be worth it to see if he fits to where we should find a way to resign him. Considering how JJ and Smoove share the ball so well, perhaps we could get away with a combo-type PG. Sure, the best would be to get a true PG and another shooter, but I don't think we have that many options.
However, it's definitely going to take more than just Chill and Solo to get Gordon. The guy scores 20 ppg. Yeah, Chill is no slouch, but he's not Gordon. I'm not up one what they'd be looking for, but if it's a big we should offer Sheldon. Chill and Sheldon are a lot to give up, but if we could maybe get a reasonable contract it might just be good for us.
Edit: I just ran a scenario through the trade checker, so let me know what you think?

My thinking is the Bulls might consider this deal in order to gain some flexibility to make some moves this offseason. Both guys they are giving up have been important to the team, but the team isn't going to win much with them either. They need to bring in new blood that will get them on the right track, and this deal could help kickstart that.
ATL gets two major pieces that could change the course of this season and the team's future. Ben brings a very good backcourt companion for JJ that could be one of the best in the East. His contract is also coming up this offseason for an extension. The great thing about acquiring him would be is he will benefit this team whether he resigns (somehow) or goes as we'd get compensation. More likely a S&T would happen that would hopefully give us some great piece(s) in return. Smith has a year on his contract after this, so he's not a huge financial burden. The main thing is he's a fantastic contributor coming off the bench. He would give this team a nice boost at a position we've had little help at all season.
Not sure if they would agree, but it might be a continuation of this discussion at lest.
