ESPN's New Beta Trade Machine Hates Us

Post#1 » by evildallas » Thu Feb 14, 2008 5:54 pm

Try it here

It seems that every trade I seem to plug in gives us very little help to the bottom line projections or actually drives us down.

Try it out and see what you can come up with.

Actually, you can make some absurd trades that it thinks will help us, but reasonable deals don't.

haha, you beat me to it.

Trading Claxton, Shelden, and Lo for Steve Nash gives us +13.4% and PHX -45.12%.

Steve Nash only gives us 13.4%? That in itself is silly. Unless the Trade Machine is calculating that we'd still walk the ball up the court.

Nash is that effective in phoenix because everyone can hit the jumpshot.

Not so much here in Atlanta.

Their trade machine says this will get us to 41-41 while costing Memphis and Philadelphia 9 games each.

Yeah but the point is the grizz have 3 points and Sheldon despite the heat he get on this board has good value = or > Lowry. Im pretty sure Speedy is done and will retire after this season. Big plus for PHI whom get a great deal of room to move under the cap...

I don't believe this + - thing espn has on there trade machine anyway.

I tried this new one some days ago too, and return on the old one.
It take more time to complete a trade, and there's a serious problem with the evaluation of the trade:

I tried Mike Miller for Speedy Claxton+Solomon Jones two guys who don't play at all.

Results:
Projected: W-36 L-46
After trade: W-30 L-52 :o

And you're right about trying trade which makes sens, it is always negative.

The trade machine obviously doesn't care for Mike Miller.
