Joe Johnson
An All-Star for the second straight season, the 6-7 guard has impressive stats (20.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists). But Johnson's poor shooting (40.4 percent) and somewhat inconsistent play for a 21-28 Hawks team make him the East's most surprising selection.

That's great for Joe. Until you realize he's ranked 26th out of 26 All Stars.

And it's worth noting that JJ is half a dozen spots behind Brandon Roy in these rankings.

Oh the irony.

I hate to say it but Turk probably deserves to be on the All Star team before him.

So you think Roy is better than JJ?

We'll see about that now that JJ has help in the backcourt.

Not sure Roy would be that high if his PG was T.Lue

I believe the list is based just on how they are playing right now and not overall value. As such I have no problem with the position although Ray Allen and Rasheed Wallace could arguably be lower. I don't think Turk was blocked by Joe, but the naming of Rasheed ahead of him was a team reward for Detroit rather than a fair appraisal. Calderon was blocked by Joe, but that one is more of a toss up.

The other thing to realize is that no one on the list sucks. We're comparing all-stars and Joe is not having as good a year as last regardless of the reason.
