Outstanding year for trades!

Imagine how much better the Hawks would be if we had Sam Presti instead of BK. He basically got 3 1st round draft picks for nothing. I also noticed that he was in the Spurs front office...why don't we just fire BK and hire a random scout/assistant GM from the Spurs/Raptors/Pistons?

Houston acquires Gerald Green for basically nothing.

That goes for nearly every NBA team.

I don't know if I would say Houston got Green for nothing. A 2nd round pick and Kirk Snyder(who I think has talent)is probably a better package than Green. Maybe Tmac can teach Gerald Green how to actually play basketball.

Actually I think the Rockets gave up more than I would expect for Gerald Green. He is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year- why would you give up a second round pick for a couple months of Gerald Green?

His agent probably told the Rockets he would re-sign. Green has "Houston" tattooed on his forearm so I think he wants to be there and they want him. Maybe they want him to learn the offense right now so he will be ready for training camp next year.

are we going to make any minor trades? I would like for us to get rid of ZAZA & Salim.

Kirk has only proved that he's talented and nothing else. It's wasted talent and I believe he's only going to be at the NBA level for another year or two. At some point he needs to prove himself!

Gerald Green is the hometown kid that will most likely lean towards staying a Rocket. Houston gains a player to entertain and he can still contribute under the Rockets system.

Snyder in his 2nd year showed more skill and defense than Green ever has. He was the starting shooting guard on a decent young team. I don't think Green knows how to play basketball. He has a nice jumpshot and elite athleticism but he doesn't know how to use it. He has a weak handle,weak man D,and you would think that he would have good steals/blocks/rebound stats based on high high he can jump and how quick he is but he doesn't. Right now his jumping ability only helps him for elevation on his J. The good thing is that you only need one above average skill to be a useful NBA player and Green can definitely shoot. He also has the physical tools to be much more than that.

The Houston-Minnesota deal was a luxury tax move. Green made a little less than Snyder (800K less). Add that savings to the coin saved by Mike James and Bonzi Wells (8M total) for Bobby Jackson and Adam Hulaska (over 6M) and you have the difference between being just over the tax to just under it.

Heard through the grapevine that the Hawks were working the phone up until the trade deadline and that we had an offer of Salim Stoudamire going to Denver for Von Wafer. But at the last minute, Portland came in and traded PG Taurean Green for Wafer instead.

Damn, I would rather have had Taurean Green than Von Wafer (or Salim). Guess he was looking for another shooter rather than PG depth.
