If this is true. All I can say is

First we thought it was Belkin, then Knight and Woodson. It is quite clear now where the cause of all this team trouble is from. It is ASG itself.

I don't believe that's true for some reason. I think BK(and his agent)are just leaking out info to make him look better while the ASG and Woodson look worse. There was no incentive for Toronto to do that.

If there is any truth to this I'm sure it's not the first time the ASG has done this. Billy could be looking really good right now with a trade like that and yet the ownership gets into the way of things. Only assuming here, but it shows the ASG is once again the bigger issue and not Billy Knight.

Agreed. The greater problem has always been this ridiculous ownership-by-committee group. Problem is, they aren't going anywhere. I hope we aren't in for the same fate as Clippers fans with these clowns.

If this is true then ASG is worse than Belkin and are a bunch of hypocrites. They approve the JJ deal yet nix Amare, Woody, Calderon. As if that weren't enough, they announce raising ticket prices while the team is 10 games under .500.
I can't imagine how publicity for this organization can get any worse.

If we don't resign Smoove I might be done with this team. Aldridge is a pretty reliable source, if this is true I'm at a loss for words. Our wondership is pathetic if they didnt make that deal.

It's been a well known fact the Hawks are run by a moronic ownership group. By committee. Like, how the eff does that work?

This may actually be true considering Billy Knight likes Calderon very much and even pursued him before he signed with Toronto. I just hope the ASG gets their act together because they obviously don't have much sense if this is actually true. Oh well, we will have Mike Bibby for another year and must rely on Acie Law after that.

Did Woody maybe say he didn't like Calderon?
I'm just trying to make some sense of ownership's denial of such a request from BK.

They might have some arguments on their side. Last summer, Calderon have less value than now, even if it was not so complicated to see what he can do.
Everybody was thinking that Speedy would come back.
The question is: when did it happen ? After the draft, it was the same thing. ATL had Speedy and Law (and Lue, AJ...). Would have been adding another PG while losing on both SF/SG backup.
If it was around the draft, it is stupid. If TOR wanted Childress only, ATL needed to draft a wing player. But a straight Childress-Calderon could not be done before July...
If they wanted Childress+11th pick, they had to ask for Calderon+ a wing.
I think it was after the draft if it is true, because if they were sure to do it and know it before the draft, they would only have to do a 11th+Shelden/and or expiring for Camby (like DEN was supposed to ask the 11th pick), and then make this trade.
Would have give a Calderon-Joe-Marvin-Smith-Horford-Camby core.

There was a rumor on draft day of Calderon for Chillz/11. Basically Chillz/IV for an All Star caliber PG. True Calderon didn't have the same value then, but most I remember reading about that and most people here being in favor of it.

I remember there was rumors, but are they talking about these pre-draft rumors here, or something later in July ?
I don't remember most people being in favor of a Chilldress+11th for Calderon, but maybe I'm wrong. I also remember there was the 11th for Jack rumor, last year, there was not enough differences between Jack and Calderon to justify adding Childress.

Some of us were hoping for this deal for a while.

There were many here who weren't even in favor of childress for Calderon. I said at the time I was OK with childress and the 11 for him but that would have been a very unpopular trade at the time. I also said I would have done marvin for Calderon.

I would not like to see Marvin leaving, but I have to admit that it would have been more logical to trade Marvin than Childress+11th (and even more if DEN was really wanting to make a 11th pick+filler for Camby).

That was always my theory- the dropoff from Marvin to Childress is miniscule compared to the gap between Calderon and the other Hawks PG's. I have no doubt at all the team would have been significantly better with a Marvin for Calderon trade.

If this is true it really shows how clueless the owners are.
they let BK pick Marvin over Paul/Deron, Shelden over anyone else, sign Speedy and Blo. Then they put their foot down and stop him from trading Childress for Calderon and firing Woody.

I'm pretty sure it was a pre-draft rumor. But it was on hoopsworld or something so who knows if it was true.
