Tell me about Lue

He's going to Dallas and will be backing up Jason Kidd, possibly see time at the SG spot next to him too. Unfortunately I haven't seen him play much other than his defense on AI in 2001 and some eyebrow-raising stats from Hawks boxscores.
So how good of a shooter/scorer is he? Can he run up and down the floor? Is he an okay defender? A detailed description of what he brings to the table would be nice.
Good luck in the playoffs BTW and please do entertain our overtures of Josh Howard for any of your top players

Lue:
Can be a clutch shooter, has 3-pt distance. On occasion will drive, but can't be expected to blow past most PGs; more of a jump shooter. Better off the bench than as a starter. Also decent as an end-of-game player, though he does have cold spells.
Has a bad habit of playing 1-on-1, and holding onto the ball far too long. (Though that may have been more the Hawks' half-court set than his own proclivities.) He might be a runner, hard to say; again, Hawks' offense up 'til now hasn't been run-and-gun, despite having a roster that should play as such, so can't say that he can or can't run up and down the floor.
Less the average defender. Can get the occasional steal or stop, but tends to let better/faster PGs blow by.

to answer your questions
shooter/scorer - very good shooter, if he isn't just catching and shooting he is probably taking one pick and shooting if he has any space. Won't ever penetrate.
running the floor - not as a point guard, he isn't a great passer so he won't be the one pushing the pace. He isn't really a great finisher because he is small and unathletic but I suppose if you have another finishing threat on the floor Lue will stop at the 3 pt. line and be a threat from there in transition.
defender - terrible. He has incredibly slow feet and he has short arms so he usually can't be put on any kind of scoring threat which leads to him defending 6'7 defensive types with no offensive game, however they will post him up (even though he looks like he is on roids, he doesn't play strong).
Lue will be better in Dallas then he was in ATL though because you have way more competent half court players. In fact, I think you guys will love Ty for that reason. He isn't scared of taking big shots... the problem in Atlanta was that he would be in during crunch time and he wouldn't be able to get the offense moving in enough time. Then we would end up with Josh Smith taking a long jumper... in Dallas that won't be a problem because he can play with Kidd and there are a lot more one on one players who can initiate the offense.

He is a good shooter and can get very hot at times. Can shoot well off the dribble. Very clutch. Doesn't turn it over a lot but doesn't create for others.
Lame on D. When his shot is off he is a liability on the court.

Basically. He has one of the prettiest 3pt shots in the league. When he isn't shooting the basketball well he has no business on the court.

Lue is the rare type of player that can be responsible for 18 points in a 2 minute span. He can give you 6 on one end and give up 12 on the other.

Lue would be a good fit in Dallas imo. I mean, Jason Terry fit in there quite nicely and he was nothing but a gunner and terrible point guard in Atlanta.

... and a bad defender.
Thanks for the input guys. Kidd likes guys who run with him during the break (Lue can spot up on the corner in this case) or move without the ball for catch and shoot feeds. I think he'll fit in nicely although the defense is a concern.

Lue is a perfect fit in Dallas. He caught a lot of flack here because he was forced into a bigger role than he should be in (because our pre-bibby pgs were so bad), but he can be a solid role player. He scores in bunches and hits big shots, not to mention he is a great locker room guy. He will do well there.
