Smith and Horford need to

stop trying to shoot jump hooks so often inside. Instead they should be looking to shoot short jumpers. They seem to shoot them well on the rare occassions they actually try them.
Just a little contact is enough to throw off a jump hook and since they are going up against bigger players that is a pretty common problem. Plus with a jump hook your body is sideways so contact is more likely. That shot works better for players who have a size advantage over the guy who is guarding them. It is also a better shot when you are very close in, not from 5+ feet out.
Horford and Smith don't really have to worry about getting their short jumpers blocked. Horford has a high release and Smith obviously jumps well. Plus it is easier to adjust the shot if there is a defender there.

Horford has a nice hook shot when he goes straight up with it. That one where he is on the move, or that sweeping hook couldn't look anymore horrible than it does now.
Smith...he just needs to get over his "doesn't want to just be seen as a dunker" and dunk the freakin ball. And he still doesn't set himself right before he jumps to finish at the rim. Even on nights where he has it going, his layups are still not high percentage, they are just going in that night. A more controlled drive like the one JJ has would help him alot.

No complaints on that from me. Smith has shown some decent post moves when he is right under the basket, it just seems like he hasn't been down there in a long time. I was saying he needed to dunk more at the beginning of the season and it hasn't changed, its the highest percentage shot it the game, no reason for him not to do it every time he can because it would there are a lot of missed layups that he could dunk... hell, with his explosiveness there are a lot of semi-floaters that he misses that he should just dunk.
Horford is a different story. I haven't been all that impressed with his low post game but he has a decent drop step. Horford does have a high release, I wonder if he is a smooth enough player to use a turn-around a little more often.

Smoove has done well with the hook shot around the basket, but he has started to take that shot from too deep recently.

The thing is, Al is already at Smith level when it comes to play inside. I think Al sometimes should just attack the rim a bit more, due to his body strenght and all, but when he finds himself in that pick and roll with Bibby, he is usually open and not that far from the basket, so I understand he's got to take that 15 ft jump shot. He just needs to work on it more. In Smith case, we have been saying that for 4 years. I'm just tired of his stupid plays. He can't even dunk these days. Him and Marvin have brought this team down in every way they can. They both rush plays, they both make bad decisions, and neither one can hit a jump shot, and their body language is horrible. They have no idea what a push for the playoff takes.
