On ESPN today Steven A Smith said that their was a possibility that Larry Brown could become a Coach or GM of the Atlanta Hawks. He said that this being Mike Woodson's last year of his contract he is likely done in Atlanta. He also stated that Larry Brown was a likely candidate for the job, and that he also has connections with the organization. If you can find and article about this please post.

Larry Brown want to put that image of the Knicks out of everyone mind. Hawks are a good situation for him. I was against him coming here. Then again he just might what this team need. Our players have been in the league long enough now.

Everywhere he's coached, he's overacheived and won. I wouldn't want him making personnel decisions, but as a coach - he's generally considered one of the the best basketball coaches ever. If we could bring in a competent GM and Larry Brown as head coach - this team would have a bright future.

Larry Brown as a GM is something I'm not sure I would want. Im actually ok with BK as GM because he has been making all the right decisions lately. IMO I even believe now that it was the right choice to stay away from that Amare deal, even though I was dying to have STAT in a Hawk Uniform.

I don't think he is the right fit for this team. Has he ever had success in the pros with a team that was young?

I kind of feel bad about the way Woody has been treated. It can't be easy trying to get a team into the playoffs when half the talk surrounding the team is about your replacement. But I guess that comes with the territory.

It's too big of a risk. He's too old and even the thought of giving him GM duties is a disaster. His three finals teams were both full of vets and our oldest player right now is 29. This is the same guy who ruined Darko's trade value and played Malik Rose over David Lee(which is like playing Lo over Al Horford). He is just not a good fit for this team.

I am on the far extreme with Larry Brown. It wasn't just his tenure with the Knicks, but his stint with the Olympic team and the last year with Detroit that made me lose every last bit of respect for Larry Brown. Much like I did when the organization acquired Isiah Rider, I will just stop being a fan. I won't attend games. I won't watch many games on TV. I won't wear any of my Hawks apparel and I definitely won't buy any more. It'll be hard because I like a lot of the players on the team, but given Brown's history of roster tinkering it probably won't be too long until most of the roster churns anyway.

Aside from personal feelings about Larry Brown, I would like to point out that Mike Woodson is from the Larry Brown coaching tree. I'd personally like to go a different direction than anyone in that coaching tree.

My hope is that Dallas collapses and Avery Johnson gets a the short stick. I'd much rather have Avery Johnson than Larry Brown.

i'm cool with larry as coach. this team isn't young anymore. the core lineup for the most part has been playing together for the past three years with the exception of bibby (vet) and horford (vet). as long as he isn't trying to trade childress for corey maggette i'm all for it. larry is a coach that can take a first round victim to the conference finals and beyond. most of all though, larry brown teams don't make stupid mistakes or blow third quarter leads. two things that are currently holding the hawks back.

A: Thats too good of a trade for a Larry trade. Think more along the lines of Josh Childress for Greg Buckner and Marvin Williams for Michael Ruffin.

B: People keep focusing on when the team does well. THEN after the team does well, he turns it to crap by bad mouthing the players if he doesn't win, trading players that made great contributions for ones that don't, then when the team is screwed for the next 5 seasons, the quits.

It would be real hard for me to root for the team anymore if he was the coach. And I have been a fan for 20 years. It would be almost as hard as it was for me to hang around after the JR Rider trade.

Larry Brown had his time, I think he is on the decline now. Evildallas made a great point: Woodson is from the LB coaching tree.

It makes absolutely no sense why some of you people hate Woody but would be OK with LB as coach!

I think we need an energetic coach that knows how to run offensive plays and gets his bench involved in games. With Larry Brown, we'd get much of what we have now.....I can't believe I'm saying this but I'd rather have Woody than him. At least he's professional and does his job without complaining.

My sentiments exactly. Best Case Scenario IMO. I thought we should have snatched up Adleman a year ago. Knowing out history.....we all know what is going to happen... :banghead:
