Is ATL interested in trading Joe Johnson, and if so at what price?
Would Andy Varejao Sasha Palovic 2008,2010 1rst Rnd Pics, Damon Jones and Eric Snow Expiring Contracts and if you guys consider Speedy or ZaZa bad contracts,we can take them off your hands as well.LBusness Cavs fan
What does this Playoff run really mean to you guys, and are major changes coming if the Hawks don't do well????

I don't think anyone on our team is untouchable. But the Cavs don't have enough value to trade for JJ outside of Lebron.

So What would it take to get him, and what teams have a shot?

You don't trade Joe unless it's for a better player(like when Kobe was available)or unless you want to start a new rebuilding process...and it doesn't look like we could get much for him(unless it's an idiotic GM) based on what players like Gasol and Iverson were traded for.

I see no reason why Atlanta would trade him. They have the best roster they've had in 10 years or so.

Why would we trade Joe for 1 good role player, few expirings and a late 1st rounder. That's similar to what we traded for Bibby, except a late 1st rounder and Joe is much better than Bibby and younger.

it would be hard for a team to get Joe, but here is a short list of players i am okay with.
Vince Carter
Allen Iverson
Chris Kaman
Luol Deng
Caron Butler
Jason Richardson

Man, I wouldn't even trade him for J-Rich, AI or VC.
AI's getting long in the tooth. VC is overrated and, like J-Rich, doesn't play defense.
Caron, Luol and Kaman would warrant some serious thought though.

Definitely not Luol, I don't think he'll ever be able to impact an offense in as many ways. Caron and Kaman are intriguing from a pure talent perspective but we don't have such a need at those positions that I would make a huge need at SG to fill them.

VC ? Are you kidding me ? Horrible character, never plays hard, has 2-5 good games a year.
AI ? The guy is around 30yo, can't play any D, he's not a PG, he's not a SG, disrupts any chemistry in any team. If the Nuggets had A. Miller with this roster, they would be way much better.
Deng ? That was a joke !
Butler ? I love his game but he can't be the number 1 option on a team as JJ is.
Richardson ? Another bad joke.
Kaman ? I love his game. I'd trade J. Smith for him anytime, not JJ.
I seriously do not know what goes through your mind. You must be taking some classes with BK. JJ isn't going anywhere. The guy wanted to be a Hawk when no one else did. He's made up his mind we'd make playoffs and we did. Give the guy some credit !

Vince and AI are old, but if you swap one of them out with Joe at the beginning of the season, the Hawks would be #5 in the east.
i like Richardson, he is an athlete, he is a +20 point scorer, he takes the ball to the basket and not just settle for jump shots.
Deng is still okay, and still very young.
but like i said, i wouldn't do any of these trades, i would just be okay with it.

That is factually innaccurate. One of the biggest knocks on Richardson is that he doesn't have the ball-handling ability to consistently take the ball all the way to the basket. Thats why he has fewer FTs per game than Joe even though he has a decent first step and loads of explosiveness.

Rich: 27yr, 38.4mpg,
0.44FG, 0.40 3P%, 5.4rpg, 3.1apg, 1.4spg, 0.7bpg, 2.02TO, 21.8ppg
Joe: 27yr, 40.8mpg,
0.43FG, 0.38 3P%, 4.5rpg, 5.8apg, 1.0spg, 0.2bpg, 2.72TO, 21.7ppg
Rich is on a much less talented team than Joe, and his numbers are very respectable. but i'm not here to argue who is better, i just wouldn't be upset with such a trade.

I wasn't saying who is better. Just responding to you implying that Richardson takes it to the cup more often. He doesn't, its not his game as much.

Wow. those knocks on Iverson are ridiculous. No way he is outside of the top 3 SG's in the league.
Its Kobe, and He and Manu in which ever order you want them in.
But no, I wouldn't trade Joe for him, simply because 6'8" joe is more versitile than 6'0" Iverson

"Kaman ? I love his game. I'd trade J. Smith for him anytime, not JJ."
As a Clipper fan I would do Kaman for J. Smith, but we would probably have to add in Brevin Knight's small expiring contract to make this work financially, because I'm assuming J. Smith will get the max.
I would also propose expanding this deal to:
Kaman/Knight/Mobley for J. Smith (S&T)/Zaza/Claxton

^ Would you do that trade if we throw in Chill and you all toss in Thornton?
And before my fellow Hawks fans bash me, think of this line-up:
Bibby/Knight/Law
J.J./Mobley
Thornton/Marvin -----Don't know who would start
Horford/Thornton
Kaman/Horford

No. Thornton is the one player that I would not trade.

I'd do that trade in a heartbeat, just not sure about how bad Mobley's and Knight's contracts are, but they must put us in a better situation than having Speedy's.
