You can't take newspaper writers seriously. Hawks made it in so they deserve some respect. Even if they get swept.

He probably mean "the worst team in the playoffs" which is true.

You can say whatever you want about East v. West or a losing team making the playoffs but that is how the system works and how it has always worked.

You don't deserve to have fallacious information printed about you because you lost some games. The Hawks aren't "the worst team in the NBA", so no we didn't invite it.

They act as if they have been a great team for so long. I can't stand their cockyness. I really hope they do not win afterwards. I have no respect for Garnett since that interview when he said the one thing Pierce, Allen, and him had in common last year was the fact they all played for "terrible" teams. Man, you got to respect the game, the players, and franchises you played for. At the end, they were the ones who got you to be what/where you are.

I like what Doc said the other day on Rome when describing KG,PP and Ray. I will paraphrase here. He basically said "those three have proven they can't get the job done on their own." He said that in respect to why everything gel so quickly for the Celts.

The Herald sucks anyway. Boston Globe is so much better.

KG's playoff run

Post#7 » by td00 » Fri Apr 18, 2008 7:12 pm

Until KG wins more playoff rounds, he still hasn't accomplished alot as a team leader.
Yes, he has turned the Celtics all the way around, and yes, they have the best record in the East. But Detroit and Cleveland know what it takes to get to the finals.
KG has been in the conference finals one year, and that year totals all his playoff series wins.
Not to talk crazy here, but Atlanta can play with these guys if they can shut down 1 or 2 of their big 3. They may not win, but they sure can give them a reminder that it won't be easy.
I hope the Hawks play above their heads and split the first 2 games in Boston and make those so called expert writers in Boston look stupid.
They can post anything they want; this team still hasn't won anything.

Hey, their fans are planning a finals just like SI is, and that is going to be a reach if they have to go thru Detroit.
They better come ready to play 4 quarters, because the Hawks will give t a run.

Are you for real? He didn't say "terrible franchises", he said "terrible teams", and guess what...last year the Celtics, Wolves, and Sonics WERE terrible. There's absolutely nothing wrong with what he said. He was just stating a fact.

Murphy's one of the best basketball writers in town (even if he works for the Herald), and there's no way he intended to write that the Hawks are the worst team in the NBA, because they are clearly far from it. He must have meant they're the worst team in the playoffs...which would be kind of hard to argue, wouldn't it -- the Hawks are a nice young team but in the context of the 16 playoff teams they're 16th.

If he meant to write "the worst team in the playoffs," but instead wrote "the worst team in the NBA," I have some reservations about him as a writer. And even more issues with the editors who let that run

I argue with the Hawks being the worse team in the playoffs. there is no such thing.

If the Hawks played, say the Nuggets, Magic, Cavs or Wizards, I would pick them in the series.

Basketball is about matchups once you are in the playoffs. There are a few teams I think these hawks could beat. Its a little silly to just say they are the worse team in the playoffs.

I think the Hawks/Magic would be a long series but there's no way the Hawks would beat any of those other teams in a 7 game series. The one team you forgot to mention that the Hawks would have a good chance against is Philly.

Those matchups make me think.

Our backcourt on paper is better than theirs.

And he was a homer and said Perkins vs Horford was push but honestly we win.

So 3 out of 5 positions we could actually have the edge.

Of course they have better bench and coaching.

But it puts things in perspective a little with those starters matched up

Perhaps X-factor is Marvin trying to match Pierce and Smoove trying to match KG.

Bibby/Rondo and Perkins/Horford are both about even. To say any one has an 'advantage" in those would be homerism. It's not like it matters anyway. Cassell>>our backup pg and Powe>>Zaza.

The only clear advantage we have is with JJ and Allen, but if JJ plays well Pierce will cover him. And then their bench just absolutely owns our bench.

Made it in? They are sub 500. They didn't make ****. The NBA needs to reformat the playoffs... top 4 teams in each conference then 8 at larges.

You're just upset you aren't getting a lottery pick. Hawks are in the playoffs so I'd say they made it in.
