For all of you who whine and moan about Josh Smith and all the "flaws" in his game:

"This season Smith joined all-time greats David Robinson and Hakeem Olajuwan, one of his basketball tutors last summer, as the only players in league history to average 17-plus points, 8-plus rebounds, 3-plus assists, 2.8 blocks and 1.5 steals in a season. Robinson did it twice and Olajuwan four times, but neither did it before his 27th birthday."

Whoa, that's an amazing feat. He's certainly in good company. He can say he's the only non center ever. Congrats Josh, you've got many great years ahead of you.

People get so frustrated with him because he could be so much better if he just played smart.

Yeah, thats fair. It can be frustrating to watch him but consider that he is only 22, came from high school, and has improved every season he's been in the league. Its not like he doesn't try hard enough or something... I mean, there really aren't other guys his age than can do what he does. He's a legit two way player, top 10 at his position probably, and he has nowhere to go but up.

Josh Smith shot 46% this season.

... and 48% after that first month. It will never be enough for some people though. Hoops brought it up in the J. Noah thread. When some guys play with fire they are competitors, when Josh does it, he's a punk.

I'm a huge Josh Smith fan myself (reason for my username), but he is the most frustrating player on the Hawks. When he plays smart and under control he's a monster.

Josh Smith's potential is limitless

The more he:

Improves his BBIQ esp offensively
Improves his perimeter shooting/dribbling to stretch a defense
Improves his footwork defensively (and stops just going for the trailing block)
Improves his play in the post (he really improved in this area this year)

The greater he can become.

Josh Smith is a top 25-50 player in the NBA Right now. The more he improves in those areas the closer he could get to top 5-10
