Things don't look good for Avery Johnson right now. He's Coaching Dallas as if they play for the East and many Maverick fans would say he's holding the team back.

So, would any of my fellow Hawk fans be interested? Mark Cuban just may show Avery the door after the playoff run.

Obviously the ASG would need to wise up and do away with Woodson before any of this is possible.

Yep. I've been following this very closely and it looks like things might work out just as we want. Chicago will probably be the most attractive destination this summer and their board is saying they're about the get Carlisle, and then NYK seems to have their sights set on Jackson.

We are going to have a shot at a guy that imo is a PERFECT fit for this team in organization. We just need a couple more blowout wins for New Orleans. Maybe CP3 tearing up the Mavs will actually help out our organization be the reason we get the coach we need?

My support for Avery is running out. I feel he's bad for Dallas and he's holding some of the players back. Josh Howard and having a lack of depth on the Dallas bench doesn't help, but Avery wants to slow the game down every night, and it's really holding the team back. I love Avery's energy and passion for the game. I believe Marvin and Josh Smith would benefit greatly. A concern would be how would Josh Smith would handle being yelled at throughout the game. Overall, Avery provides Atlanta with passion, high energy and a name on the sidelines.

I want us to stay away from the College game. I want a name on our sidelines, but if we want an upcoming head coach, I say we should consider Mario Elie.

we need somebody that is going to preach defense but not slow the game down. right now i don't know who that guy is but i don't think avery is him. he has to have big time expirence that's for sure. and know how to use the players we have (not don nelson). jim obrien would have been good for us.

He's not ideal but he's better than Woody. Both are micromanagers but Avery a) understands the game a little better and b) seems to be better at motivating and standing up to his players. Certainly a guy for the short list.

I would hate to see Avery come in and slow us down. But his mentality is EXACTLY what this team needs. We need a young and energetic coach who the players can relate too, but demands their respect in the process. I never got the feeling our players are willing to fight for Woody, they're just playing for themselves, and I think a big reason for that is he doesn't have their respect.

Very true. I positives are there with Avery, but he does have many negatives, so while he needs to be on the list, I don't feel he should be at the top. Coaches should now recognize that the future is bright here, but we still have many holes that may shy a respectable name away, so that does worry me.

I like avery and all, but he would command a pretty penny and I think the incredible assistant coaches that he has over there might have a little something with his success.

I would much rather hope George Karl gets fired. Despite Dever's refusal to play defense, he is a defensive coach, but he likes to get out and run.

Or, like I have been saying all along. I REALLY like Paul Westphal.

I'm always surprised at Avery's lack of offense in his coaching style considering his college coaching influences. I guess his later influences had stronger impact. I still strongly support him or Thibodeau from Boston rather than more Woodson or Larry Brown. If Avery is let go it will be because he didn't win the championship. His resume looks a lot better than most of the options out there.

He is respected in the league, and he has surprised me that he has been so successful in his time as the HC.
Question: Is Don Nelson's son not a HC type guy? I like his father's passion to allow his player's freedom.

We need someone to give these guys confidence. While I don't like the current makeup of this team, we will need someone to formulate a new direction so we can compete with the top seeds.
What we have isn't getting it done, whether Bibby is just hurt, or just doesn't care with the salary he is pulling in!
