Larry Brown has just decided to quit his office job with the Sixers. According to the organization his decision was based on the fact he loves to coach and that's what he wants to do. About 10 days ago Stephen Smith said on ESPN that he wouldn't be surprised if he took a position in our organization. He added that our team would be Brown's best choice due to the situation with our GM and coach. He went on to say that both BK and Woodson have not talked to each other since it became public that BK wanted to get Woodson fired. I persobally think that this could be great for the Hawks. I first thought he could be our GM, but if he's leaving the Sixers to coach, I'll be all for it.

Opposite end of the spectrum from me. I can't get passed how much I despise Larry Brown and what he's done over the last several years. I held off renewing season tickets on the grounds that he might come here. If it happens I'm out.

Dallas, I fullly support the way you feel, and I also despise Larry Brown. While the ASG may feel it puts our organization towards the right direction, I disagree, but theres going to be plenty of support by other Hawk fans if it ends up becoming a reality.

Guy has a track record of winning. Regardless of how you feel about the dude personally, he'd certainly be an upgrade over what we have now (as either a GM or coach). Plus, he'd be a great teacher for Acie Law.

Larry Brown will not work with a team like ours. We are too young.

He also has a history of destroying teams, wrecking players confidence through the media instead of coming to the player and then quitting.

He traded Allen Iverson and some other useful players for Eddie Jones, a over the hill glenn rice and Jerome Williams.

Tim Thomas, a lottery pick, as a rookie averaged 11 points on 44 percent shooting and 36 percent from three. He was traded for Tyrone freakin Hill the next season.

He traded a 2nd year player in Larry Hughes that showed nothing but promise for a toni Kukoc with a bad back.

For the record that 3 Lottery picks he traded or tried to trade for worse players and over the hill players.

I have already mentioned the things he did in New York and in Detroit...and Indiana...as a coach that are just disgusting.

No. I would sign Isaiah Rider to a contract before I would hire him as a coach.

Rip, those are some serious issues you have with Brown.

And you have kept up well. I couldn't have come up with that kind of laundry list.

I don't think his style flies well here either, but, where we are today, he might just be able to do something with a couple of these guys.
Will he break up things to install his system? You betcha!

I am just not sure how much worse off we would be should Brown come here. We aren't exactly headed towards a higher seed anytime in the near future.

Drastic changes are just needed to rid ourselves of the situation BK has put this franchise in.

My only worry a few years ago was that Dunleavy was going to come here and recycle himself for a few years. That is one coach I don't get! A total underachiever.

I can vouch for Stephen A. Smith's account of BK and Woody not speaking. Before the rumors, BK would routinely be in Woody's office 24-7....since the rumor....I have not ONCE seen BK and Woody around one other.

After the season, someone is going to have to take a bullet and it will probably be both, with Knight the most likely to go.
Neither one have proven their worth, even though I thought the Bibby trade could work out.

Can Brown come in a get us to 37-45 and a #8 seed? Probably, with both hands tied! He is going to be out there to prove the naysayers that he is an excellent teacher.

Well, this could be the ultimate test to his ability. There are probably many who wouldn't even attempt to tackle this assignment.

Van Gundy would be another proven winner and brilliant basketball mind we might be able to lure. Plus, he doesn't have the baggage Larry Brown has. I'd be happy with either one. I'd be even happier with a competent GM though.

I agree with new Gm and new coach. I don't agree with Brown. Lining up to overpay a piece of crap isn't on my list of good things to do in the offseason.

If we get Brown as a GM, he WILL trade valuable players to turn this into a half court, grind it out team. Smith, Marvin and Bibby would all be gone. I know some of you don't think that is a big deal, but yeah..it would be. Franchise destroying even.

I think it's pretty obvious that he's a better coach than Woody, but wouldn't be thrilled if we got Larry Brown. His last two stops have been a combined three years and I believe that he wants input on personnel decisions which isn't a good thing IMO. The obvious positives is that he definitely knows how to coach and you know he wants to show people he's still a great coach after that disaster in New York(yes the players were bad but he did a HORRIBLE job as well).

I would feel alot better if I read some quotes by him(about our roster) if we were to hire him. I think it may be a better decision to hire some one who may be considered a lesser coach like Carlisle,Frattelo,or Avery simply because they don't have the potential to destroy the franchise and leave like LB.

I think I would give him a chance if he was hired as head coach. I just hope the Spirit isn't dumb enough to give 67 year the ability to make player personnel decisions.

With Sam Vincent getting fired, I can hope that Larry Brown signs in Charlotte before our series is over with Boston.
