Realgm says durant will get the award thursday. i mean what does AL have to do to get some respect and praise around this league.
then he carried his team to the playoffs while battling with the likes of bosh, gasol, wallace, etc durant just shoots the 3 and wait for lanes to open. :banghead:
:wavefinger:

This is no surprise. Durant's a great player and so is Horford. Durant has a lot more national recognition.

that maybe true to you but hord is better and had a greater impact than durant i mean im some circles(ajc) they call him the laeder of the team i can see this, but to give it to a guy who was told shoot till tired,i mean come on now! you saw the way he dogged PAUL PIECRE in the first home game and then smacked talked the whole series i mean BIG AL ROY AKA DAT DUDE!!!

Al had no chance- I think its pretty funny that some people here thought he was going to win.

Yeah, bout as accurate as Durant winning it unanimously.

I never said that Durant would win it unanimously. I said there was a better chance of Durant winning it unanimously than of Horford winning it. Actually since we know that Horford hasn't won it then that is still true.

What a complete joke!! Durant does nothing but shoot jumpers and 3's. Can't play a lick of defense and his rebounding is non-existent. Horford does EVERYTHING on the court from scoring, rebounding, playing D and now being a LEADER. Give me a break! Horford clearly won ROY! What a tragedy.

Doesn't matter in the long run. I'm just happy we have Horford.

I'll be interested to see how the voting went down. IF the vote wasn't even close, a new voting system may need to be put in place. It would really show that PPG is the only serious factor that people look at. Not defense, not rebounding, not shot selection, not efficiency, etc. etc.

I think Durant was a very good rookie, but you can't say he was a clear cut winner by any means. I personally would have taken Horford who played like a man from the second he entered the league.

IMO, both Horford and Scola deserve it over Durant who didn't do **** other than score. He also played for what, the 3rd worst team in the league. That's complete BS

Durant had a very good last month where he did more than just shoot. He was just a shooter for most of the season though. He won the award because of opportunity and exposure. He played 34.6 minutes and scored 20.3 ppg because his team needed him to score. Weird though he shot 28.8% from 3 pt range. I would have thought that would have been higher. He hid a few game winners that garnered highlight coverage and he had the media declaring him the winner even before the season started which doesn't hurt. Fair or not, getting the green light to do the scoring for a team normally gives the edge with the voters.

Horford got the minutes, but his role didn't involve as much scoring. The Hawks were on NBA TV twice and both times it didn't go well.

Scola was on TV more, but he was fitting a role on an established playoff team which hurt his chances.

I'm also happy Durant got it because the Sonics need all the help/support they can get, not that it will necessarily help them stay put. Hopefully it does though.

Sadly I doubt it. However Durant's ties to the Big 12 should make him an instant favorite in OKC.

I already figued Durant would win it. Durant is gonna be great and its not like Horford was a shoe in. I would have voted Horford, but then again, how many times have I even watched Durant play this season? none. so I really have nothing to go from except stats and stats arent always the best way to factor how much impact a player has on his team. then again, how much impact could Durant have had since the Sonics were so bad?

Knowing what I know today I think I may have taken Horfored with the #1 pick if we'd had it last draft.

Durant isn't even in the discussion.

I would have to think about taking Horford over Oden, and that's saying a ton about what Horford has shown me this year.

The guy is a consumate winner, period.

It was expected. Kevin being the go to guy for Seattle and for the amount of points he scored. Even still, Al's double-doubles didn't seem to matter, because the voters were thinking one sided.

Oh well, no biggie, looks who made it to the playoffs!

I said it all along, the whole ROY thing is rigged.

ROY isn't rigged, it's just that the wrong people voted. No one has seen Al until the playoffs. I bet a lot of those people want their votes back after seeing what he does.

Whatever, KD can enjoy is trophy. The real ROY can lead us to more playoff victories.

I was hoping they wouldn't vote until after the playoffs started because I bet this is the first time a lot of those guys have seen Horford play for an extended period. It's all about the PPG, thouh. Hopefully this just fuels Horford more.

Let me just say that, I'd rather have Horford on my team than Durant. KD might have won it, but Al will have a much better carreer. The kid can play !
