David Andersen's CSKA wins the Euroleague Final Four. Big game by Trajan Langdon. Strange hearing the announcers say the only guy for Maccabi who really played well was Esteban Batista.

Off the wall thought, but we might want to think about Ettore Messina as a coaching candidate. He's won the Euroleague Championship 4 times with 2 different teams.

Edit - They just said in post game that he extended his deal a year with CSKA Moscow. So much for that idea.

How did Anderson do in the final four?

Aside from what I have seen on Youtube I don't know much about him. Can anyone tell me more about him. The plans on signing him, what kind of level he can contribute for us. What type of celing does he have as a player?

i know a little bit about Andersen. He was hailed as one of the next great Euro big men when younger (well actually, hes an aussie) with Gasol saying he was one of the toughest players he had to play against over there, but has never really fulfilled his potential.

What he is is a solid defender at the 5 (probably NBA 4) with great lower body strength. He has terriffic range on his jumper, and is very mobile around the court for a guy that big. he is more than capable of hitting mid-range fade aways, spins, and hits from the international trey line easily. Although quite mobile, hes a below average leaper by NBA standards.

I know the Hawks were trying to get him into their roster for ages a couple of years back, the problem being Andersen makes a killing playing in Europe and he doesnt want to take a pay cut just to play NBA. Maybe he's changed his mind by now? Dont know.

In the NBA, I imagine he'd be a decent bench role player somewhere in between Scola and Oberto. He will also man up for Australia playing PF next to Bogut in the Olympics.

He played really solid in the Final Four. In the semis he was 8-9 shooting for 16 pts with 4 rebs. He really carried the team as they broke away late. In the finals he scores 13 on 5/11 shooting with 5 boards. While those stats don't seem so impressive from NBA standards, consider that it is a 40 minute game and he plays on a balanced championship team. 6 players were in double figures for what wound up being a pretty easy win in the championship after a hard fought win in the semis.

He got a solid shot with decent range, okay post moves, moves his feet well, and good fundamentals. He's not a banger or a 7 foot shot blocker, but he really would have helped the offensive on the 2nd unit for our team. His baseline spot-up jumper and his turnaround jumper are both money and the announcers routinely referred to him as "money in the bank" during the game.

Andersen / Zaza / Solo isn't too bad as next three bigs off the bench.

Andersen and Zaza would be an interesting second unit with;

Acie / Mario / Chil / Zaza / Andersen.
