Jose!

Post#1 » by conleyorbust » Fri May 9, 2008 8:23 pm

It looks like one of Forderon will be traded. Obviously Toronto would like to get Ford off their hands but it seems like some of the fans at least are beginning to open up to the possiblity of trading Joe Calderon because unlike Ford, he if viewed more as an asset than a liability.

What would you be willing to give up to get Jose? I'd give'm Marv+Bibby and take back whatever bad contract they wanted to throw at us (we could use a Garbo/Kapono type anyway).

Is this realistic? Will the new management team look in this direction?

Calderon will be BYC so i am not sure how we could make a trade work. Certainly Bibby wouldn't be part of the deal because his contract is too big.

Will ASG be willing to sign two guys (Smoove and JC) this offseason to big contracts?

well we would be moving out an equal amount of salary if we did a SnT for Jose. Its not like Smith who is just getting a big raise.

It would be nice, but I see us giving Accie the chance to run the point
before we look at another point. I think he has the tools to be real good
next year.

I was including Bibby because they will probably want a backup pg if they lose Calderon and Bibby is a) a good one and b) a big enough contract that they could move a player that didn't fit.

I would say that finding a trade that actually passes the trade checker and makes sense would be tough.

Thinking of Spanish PGs, even if he did not prove the same level than Calderon, I would also consider Sergio Rodriguez. We would not get a almost All-Star PG, but if we could improve other things, it could be interesting.

A trade we already talked about last year was Marvin for Webster+Rodriguez, and while Webster has not the potential of Marvin, he could be better here, first because of his ability to hit 3s, a thing Marvin doesn't do at this moment.

I would still go for Jose first, but if it turns to be impossible... and Sergio is thinking that McMillan has no confidence in him right now, so...

I like Ford and Calderon over Bibby. I would take Jose first though. Marvin and Bibby would be good for me, now that BK is gone I think Marvin might go sooner or later

Sergio is awesome. Hi is like a wizard. I watched him a lot when he was playing in Europe, and in the Spanish national team. I really like his game. He needs some time, to be able to play starting minutes, but for 15-20 min/game he would be ok. If we could get Webster throw Marvin in that trade.

I've been advocating the possibility of Bibby for Ford and Kapono. I'd do Bibby and a future 1st rounder for Calderon in a S&T and Kapono, because Calderon doesn't have the health concerns of Ford. I'd consider Marvin or Childress instead of the pick, but might have to tweak things to make the contract math work. If it Marvin and Bibby, then it would be Calderon and Nestorvic (expiring deal) to make me happy.

I'd do Marvin for Calderon straight up, but I doubt the math works.

+1. The good thing about Bibby is his humongous expiring contract makes him an attractive trade candidate for a lot of teams.

I still doubt Toronto even wants Mike Bibby.

I would welcome TJ Ford with open arms.

His contract:

$8,000,000

$8,500,000

$8,500,000 - Player option

Good value for the impact TJ would make and the heart/passion he has for the game.

yessir, the only thing about TJ is his health. But I really dont see it as a big enough issue to pass on him. id still rather have jose though. But if we got TJ that would be great.

Would you guys think of a;

Ford + Garbo [Exp] + Baston [Exp] + #17 for Marvin Williams + Solomon Jones [filler?] trade?

I don't think a Bibby to Toronto trade would work due to Bib's salary.

If we can't get Calderon, I'd do this trade in a heartbeat.
