More like stay away from any type of alcoholic drink during the playoffs.

Boston Globe -
Before their Game 7 matchup against the Celtics, the Hawks stayed at the Liberty Hotel on May 3rd in Cambridge.

A league source said Brandon Lyons, who operates the Alibi Lounge in the hotel, instructed his bar staff to give anyone affiliated with the Hawks a double shot in any alcoholic beverage they ordered.

Note to Hawks: Stay away from the Liberty Hotel in future visits to Boston.

I have no problem with someone wanting to take the edge off with a drink (help them get to sleep maybe). But if you cannot realize your drink has a double shot in it and put it down--it's your own fault. Sure this is lame on the hotel's side, but the players are adults and shouldn't be drinking the night before a game with a 1:00 PM tipoff.

I don't know if its true... its kind of funny

Course you shouldn't be partying too hard but a rye and ginger to take the edge off the night before isn't gonna kill anyone

makes sense another "leprechaun"

Indeed, No disrespect intended guys, but that was totally unprofessional by hawks players, Hopefully next time they will embrace the pressure not run away from it.

I guess some of us can deal with a tough situation head on, and others just need an escape, again no disrespect intended.

For the record...NO ONE drank at the hotel.

The article is bogus.

The Hawks left ATL at 2:30 PM May 2nd and arrived in Boston at about 5.

They got to the hotel about 6...and many stay in their rooms, while some got with the Video Coordinator to go through game film.

If anyone went downstairs to the lounge...they was ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY no drinking go on amongst the players themselves. Many of them were down there greetings female friends....who were maybe there for a night cap (it aint no secret...that's the NBA for you).

Yes, Woody and the asst. coaches drink Bud Light's...but that's it. That's their drink of preference....but nothing more than 2-3 brews. That's pretty much how most NBA coaches celebrate a win or wind down an exhaustive traveling day.

But I repeat....NO PLAYER DRANK LIQUOR BEFORE GAME 7.....whoever Patrick Lyons is....he's a liar.

calm down fo oh fo- before you call anyone a liar you should actually read the article to notice that nowhere does it ever say that any of the players were drinking. Its not a false statement to say that he told the waitstaff to give any of the players a double shot but the article never does say that any hawks players actually did get any drinks.

Don't forget the place is being called the Alibi room. It sounds like a joke.

 If they were drunk in game 7. What did the Boston people do to the team in the previous 3 games up there? What were they doing to the Cavs in their two games? This would explain a lot. Celts are unstoppable at home and can barely play on the road. At least so far in this playoffs.

I supported you guys during the whole Stern not suspending KG thing...

But if this article is true, the Hawks have no one to blame but themselves. These guys aren't 16 year old girls. They can think for themselves.

1) There is nothing wrong with having a drink during the playoffs. You guys need to get off your high horse and realize that. These are grown men, they can handle themselves. It doesn't mean they are getting hammered the night before a game. Personally I wouldn't do it but I don't see the harm in it.

2) If anyone did then they would have noticed the double shot. It's not hard to tell that kind of stuff.

3) If Woody's drink of choice is freaking Bud Light I think we should fire him after all.

Were you stalking the players the entire day?

If the players had a drink or two (as part of socializing), its not a big deal.

For one, I highly doubt they were drinking before the game. But if they were drinking, they definitely weren't drinking their problems away.

That's just (Please Use More Appropriate Word).
