Dime has this up

In a do over of the first 14 picks of 2006, they have Brandon Roy going #1 (we passed). It ignores injuries, so they still have Ammo going #4 off of offensive skill and team need. At our pick of #5, Rajon Rondo.

Fittingly enough the guy we could have drafted (Roy) gets the top spot. Milsap get the 9th spot and we could have had him with our second rounder.

I was firmly in the "trade the pick" camp, hard to know what could have come out of it but that draft was lame from the get-go.

I wanted us to move the pick and wanted the Houston trade to happen. The rumor had us trading picks with Houston and us acquiring Luther Head.

If I remember correctly Craig Smith, Paul Millsap and Daniel Gibson headline the second round.

That was a very weak draft. I still think R. Gay will be a star in this league. He's very good already. Now, had we drafted Rondo at 5, we'd be asking for another PG by now. He's not that good at all, I do not even know if he's good. B. Roy was the one I thought we should've picked since Aldridge was supposed to be taken very early.

I thought Marcus Williams was going to be much better than Rondo. It's amazing Rondo can even hit an open midrange jumpshot from time to time after watching him in college.
I wanted Roy(after finding out we had no shot at Aldridge post-lottery)but would have also been happy with Foye or trading down for one of the point guards(particularly M. Williams). The two players I definitely didn't want to take were Shelden and Gay(although he is a boom or bust pick that boomed).

if you go into a situation with an established PG running the show, you are not gonna get minutes. Marcus Williams is a good player but he's not on the right team.

Now it is just him and Devin Harris, so maybe he's on the right team now.
