I'm not liking that ownership will probably overrule the GM on the coach part. If GM is going to be a toothless position we'll wind up with a lesser man taking the job. If that happens someday that will haunt the franchise.

I feared that too. We will see soon enough but right now it looks like they are forcing Woody upon the new GM. I am sticking with this theory until this get's resolved. Gearon has praised Woodson every chance he can get...

Good observation on Gearon. It's like he's made up his mind and he's trying to sway public opinion on Woodson with hype.

... but why?
Do you think its because a better coach would require more $$$ than they want to spend?

I think Woody is just their guy for some reason. I'm pretty sure $$$ had nothing to do with it if they wouldn't let BK fire him during the season(for an interim coach). I don't think Woodson is willing to work for any less than someone like Brian Shaw, Mike Budenholzer, Corbin, or Tom Thibodeau(although he may get more due to being the hot name). They also offered BK the option to come back for another year after it was clear the two were no longer on speaking terms. If Woody comes back I will hold the ASG responsible and not the GM. I have a hard time believing that a competent GM would retain Woody if he didn't have to...that's just my opinion.
