ATL gets: Jarrett Jack, Raef LaFrentz

POR gets: Kirk Hinrich

CHI gets: Mike Bibby, #13 pick

i'm not sure if Raef can be traded, but if he can, salary cap wise, it works.... but anyway, what you think, and if you don't like it, don't be a jerk about it.

I think Chicago accepts...but why does Atlanta? You turn Bibby into Jack...who is also a free agent, worth no more than the MLE. You can get him next year, if you like him. Meanwhile, Bibby remains the better player of the 2.

I like it.I would love Jack as a backup to Acie. It's good for Atlanta because it gives Acie the chance to start and become the great player he can be and it gives us a great backup that could start if needed.and I think Lafrentz is a big expiring next year,I may be wrong though

I think it's a down grade to trade Bibby for Jack.

i have been also thinking that Portland can throw in either Frye or Sergio, or Chicago can throw in a S&T Duhon.

Frye or Sergio are not throw in type players. Either would make the deal more interesting from the Hawks perspective though.

The S&T Duhon wouldn't work because of the draft pick timing of it, which is the biggest issue because at draft time Hinrich will still be a BYC player. That means the original deal wouldn't work.

Ignoring the math and just looking at the deal conceptually . . . I'm unsure if Portland does it, but I'll assume they are high on Hinrich and willing to make a deal for the sake of argument. Chicago would do it in a heartbeat as they dump salary and gain a pick that could be used to add a potential high upside C to develop.

Atlanta however doesn't make out well in this deal. While Jarrett Jack is a competent combo G and can play the PG with pretty good D. He doesn't add a veteran presence to help Joe with leadership. He is better on D than Bibby, but isn't as good of outside shooter so he would result in a step backward for the offense. Portland could sweeten the deal with 2nd round picks if they so desired.

Final observation is that if Portland fancied Hinrich, they could make their pitch straight up with Chicago. LaFrentz is an expiring deal and could be dealt straight up for Hinrich on July 1st. If that's not enough and the pick is needed they could deal the pick to Chicago for a future pick and then Deal LaFrentz and that future pick for Hinrich when BYC ends on 7/1. Adding us to the deal just complicates things without adding to the upside. Furthermore moving Jack is unnecessary unless they have too many players under contract and if that is the case they could deal him for a future pick if so inclined.

Why would we want to get rid of Bibby for Jack ? That does not make any sense. I believe Bibby will just make us better as long as he's healthy during training camp with our other guys. If things do not work out that well, he still gives us a 15M expiring contract that might be very appealing to many teams.

I really can't see Portland trading Jack, a lottery pick, and expiring contracts for Hinrich. And then you want Portland to put even more value into the deal!?

They don't want the lottery pick(ANOTHER guarenteed contract) and Jack, contrary to belief around here, isn't that good. Their best point guard is Steve Blake followed by Jack, followed by Sergio. Hinrich is a big upgrade for them at the point.

They want to shed contracts so they will be looking for multiple players for one deals. I am not sure how much more the 13th pick in a weak draft, Jack, and a expiring is going to bring in.

For Atlanta, I honestly think that Raef would offer more to our lineup than Jack.
