Alonzo Mourning?

A simple what if: Alonzo wants one more year. Not that he would actually come here, but if he would what do you think? Does he have enough in the tank to back up Al for 16 minutes a night? Would his veteran presence help our front line?

Personally I thought he was still getting it done on D and rebounding before he got injured. It's a long way back from the knee injury, but in theory I think we'd be a good location for him as a shot blocking backup C is one of our needs. He'd probably be a good teacher of some of the finer vet tricks to our other bigs.

Of course if he does come back I'm sure he'll opt for a spot on a team that he sees as more of a title contender or he'll be in Miami again. Financially, we'll probably be stuck with a minimum salary crap shoot of a big or hope that Solomon fits the bill.

I would love to get him, but I think we would want to go to LA, SA, ect., and try to win a title.

He would be a solid backup. He can defend, rebound, and block shots. He would also be a good vet influence on Al and Smith.

Zo would be PERFECT for one season. But I doubt he'd want to come here.

Well, he does have his ring. But I think he would like to call it a career with a championship caliber team.

But pretty much in ever sense of the word, Zo would be PERFECT and is EXACTLY what the Hawks need from a big off the bench.

Alonzo Mourning would be a perfect veteran addition to this team. His passion, experience and physical presence is exactly what a young team like ours needs.

If only.........

This is my 100% seal of guarantee, the only place Alonzo Mourning will play next year if he does play is Miami and the only reason he will play there is because: A) He loves the city of Miami B) He loves the game of basketball C) He loves the Miami Heat D) He wants to continue mentoring young basketball players and E) He might be looking at this year as the first year of being an assistant coach (undeclared assistant) similar to what many aging vets have done.

Now if I were the moderator, i'd lock this thread. Don't get anyone's hopes up.

I believe he said he is interested in coming back. You'd think he'd stay in Houston though.
