so basically Bibby has this huge expiring contract. so who will the Hawks be able to get if the Hawks decide to trade Bibby.
so it would have to be a vet that has a huge +2 year contract. or a vet on a team that is slumping or not doing well, and in mid season that team decides to dump salary and rebuild.
i am just not sure what players or teams will be in that position next season.

I like to think of players in terms of expiring contracts of crappy players plus draftpicks. (Raef Lafrentz plus a pick). The Hawks gave up the equivalent of expiring contracts for Bibby and he didn't really do much while he was here to upgrade that value. But I think that the Hawks could likely get expiring contract plus around the 25th pick in the draft for 1 year (and then bird rights) of Bibby.
This isn't to say thats what I think the Hawks should trade him for- just what I see his value as.

I see him movable in a deal for Hinrich or TJ Ford or in a different deal if we have a separate deal to get a veteran PG. There aren't many veteran PGs worth acquiring who may be available so it really limits the options on trading him.
Trading him to get a pick is a step back from last season and would only make sense if that other trade for a veteran PG is afoot. We don't have the financial freedom to sign a replacement PG of worth to mind the fort while our 2nd yr PG and any possible pick PG get ready.

I don't think the Hawks will be able to move Bibby. Sure they could try but I don't know if anyone would want him or even if the Hawks would have interest in trying to trade him. They may just keep him for a while and see how he starts off next year and if he is helping their team, they may just keep him.

I don't think I would do that but that's definitely the best trade you have offered from the Hawks perspective.

There will be plenty of openings for a guy like Bibby. Take somewhere like denver, who would love to dump some salary and their starting point guard is Anthony freakin Carter.
The Knicks, also looking to dump salary might give it a look. Depending on who they end up with in the draft, you could look to Miami. Around the mid season when Jamal Tinsley's ankle or hamstring or whatever explodes, Indiana would be willing to take that expiring. If they lose Gilbert Arenas, the Wizards would probably be inetrested. Out in Portland, Bibby would be a nice expring and would be a upgrade over Jarrett Jack and/or Steve Blake. The Cavs would love to dump a salary for him now and make Lebron happier.
Bibby on name recognition alone will get intrest. then on top of that, with his expiring even more intrest.

If Knight was swapped with Livingston (S&T) would that make the deal more enticing? I saw you guys already have a Livingston thread, but if he was added in this deal, it would be a similar 3yr deal to KVH, where the last 2 years are unguaranteed.
If Livingston ends up being fine, this would end up as a steal for the Hawks. If not, it's just a low-risk 1 year investment.
ATL gets: Billups/Maggette (S&T)/Mobley/Livingston (S&T)
ATL gives: JJ/Bibby

ATL send Bibby and Marvin
MIL send Redd and Gadzuric
Then we slide JJ over to SF. Acie wont have too much pressure on him with two excellent ballhandlers on the court with him in Redd and JJ.
More trade possibilities will open up once all the FA get signed to new deals.
Redd is probably one of the hardest guy to put a value on, a bad contract, but he does have some talent, but definately not a guy you make your #1.
