I'm not a big fan of this trade.

PORT gets the best young starting 5 in the NBA and only gives up bench players. HEAVILY tilted in favor of the Blazers.

TOR gets .... what? What's the incentive for them to do this trade? If the deal is fair to the Hawks, then the picks will be poor. If the deal's unfair, you move to my next point...

... that the deal hurts the Hawks. Pryz is only good in small doses. If you play him more than about 25 minutes a game, his health and production both collapse. Frye is too soft, Outlaw is just a guy, Kapono is fatally flawed in every part of his game excepting his outside shot.

That leaves Jarrett Jack. Last season, I thought he was rounding into a decent PG. His game fell off this season. He's worse than Bibby at every feature of his game, except he's a better defender.

This trade downgrades the Hawks at 2 positions, SF and PG and gives only moderate improvement to the backup defensive center, all at the cost of a 1st and a 2nd.

By the way, I just tried this trade out on ESPN's trade machine; it didn't work. Maybe TJ Ford's BYC status killed it.

Wow! Looking at the salaries, it's an even sweeter deal for the Blazers. Are you maybe a Blazer fan?

Too confusing and too much filler in the trade. Find a way for the Hawks go get Ford and Pryzbilla with keeping Joe/Smith/Horford and one of Childress/Marvin and that would be great.

I know we trade Marvin for solid quantity. I'm thinking Bibby will move before the deadline next season. I think this trade gives us everything; two deep at every position, better shooting, more power.

I also think that we upgrade at every position except PG because of the depth.

Maybe PORT could slide us a pick.

What if we try the trade in two times;

Marvin / Jones

for

Pryz / #33 / #36

Bibby

for

TJ Ford / Kapono

for

Bibby / 2010 first / 2009 second

Draft:

Pekovic PF/C and Jawai PF/C two non- guaranteed bigs to develop and work into a rotation.

Pryz / Zaza / Jawai

Horford / Pekovic

Smoove / Kapono

JJ / Chil / Mario

TJ / Acie / Speedy

We improve our cap situation, get bigger, get a shooter, upgrade the PG as long as TJ holds up.

I can assure you Portland wouldn't do that. TJ Ford is a bad fit at PG for Portland next to Roy since he can't shoot and needs the ball to be effective. His health issues don't exactly help his case. Marvin Williams really isn't the kind of SF Portland is looking for since his shooting range is limited.

The guys we're losing are quality too. Przybilla is a great defender and rebounder. Outlaw is a better fit for Portland than Marvin and Frye is an above average back-up big.
