Gilbert Arenas isn't leaving Washington, despite opting out of the last year of his contract, which would have paid him around $13 million next season. Arenas and the Wizards have secretly agreed on a new multi-year deal, according to a GM friend of Washington executive Ernie Grunfeld.

Rumors have begun swirling that the Heat would consider trading Chicago native Dwyane Wade to the Bulls for the first pick in the draft, plus Tyrus Thomas and Larry Hughes. Miami has the second selection, so such a trade could land the Heat the two top prospects in Memphis guard Derrick Rose and Kansas State forward Michael Beasley. Look for the Timberwolves to select UCLA forward Kevin Love with the third pick.

Miami is trying desperately to find a way to get Brand, whose first choice is the Heat, but a sign-and-trade for Shawn Marion is probably the only way to get it done. Hard to see that happening

Bobcats Have Eye On Roy Hibbert

The Bobcats are interested in acquiring a second first-round pick to draft Georgetown center Roy Hibbert, according to The Charlotte Observer.

They are looking to get their hands on a late teens or early twenties selection.

Flop or not we don't need him playing for our rival.

Could very well be to select Roy Hibbert.

WTF would the Bobcats trade for a pick. They already have two former 1st round picks who will be fighting for rotation spots(Morrison/May)along with a coach who would prefer Malik Rose to David Lee.

Pure luxury tax avoidance move by Denver. For Charlotte, it might be a way to get Hibbert or at least it gives them a chance to get a PG and Big regardless of which 2 they may be.

Trading a future 1st for the 20th pick is a bit much since Charlotte isn't the top team in the division, much less a top 2 team so that pick is likely to be bad.

My understanding is that the pick has protection on it (I'm sure at least lottery protection). If that is the case they are trading a future pick 15 or higher for a #20 right now. The only risk would be if you suck so bad that the protection expires which is how Detroit got the #2 to spend on Darko. It was a pick from a trade with Vancouver that the protection expired and Memphis had to give up while still sucking. Charlotte is counting on a Larry Brown lead trip to the playoffs which mean they are probably giving up a future pick very similar to the level they are getting. Plus I still say this a very deep draft. There is no guarantee that the year Denver gets the pick is as deep.

I'm starting to get a bit worried about our division mates. This draft could really reshape the division.

Charlotte adding that extra pick gives them the opportunity to add a lot of front line bulk and move Okafor to PF or add 1 front line guy and improve their PG depth. They've also got a high 2nd rounder that could add more umph to their rotation. I really fear them getting 2 bigs in the draft and then going after a pg with the MLE (Udrih maybe? or Duhon) to just run things. They've already got potent wings. The biggest negative I see is their coach, but he has the mentor thing over our coach so even that isn't a negative when we face them. If he actually plays the rookies some it is possible for them to remake their roster where they don't even miss their flops of Ammo and Sean May or are happy with small contributions from them off the bench.

Miami is also a threat, but I'm not sure if it all happens this year or they complete the process next year. I do know that Riley is in aggressive mode and that doesn't bode well with our maintain the status quo approach. They'll be much better than last year, how can they not be?

Washington doesn't really scare me because of roster flux and cap situation, but Orlando was already the best team in the division and plan just to tweak a bit.

Ok, strike that. Charlotte minimized impact in my eyes. I admit that DJ Augustin helps them, but I'm not sold on Ajinca and I feared them getting a really big front line. Robin Lopez and Mario Chalmers would have been a more impactive pair in my eyes.

Miami gets Beasley and Chalmers. Great night for Miami.

Washington gets a project in Javele McGee then they get the guy I wanted in the 2nd half of the 2nd round Bill Walker. Edit. Walker gets traded to Boston. Revising evaluation.

Orlando adds Courtney Lee who is solid if not spectacular, decent need pick.

Miami helped themselves immediately.
Orlando maintained position.
Atlanta did absolutely nothing.
Washington didn't do much in my opinion.
Charlotte didn't do much in my opinion.

Like I've said in other threads, we don't necessarilly need a rook right now. If we can put those resources towards a proven player, all the better. I'm concerned that won't happen though.

I think Miami did very well for themselves by grabbing the biggest impact player in the draft, obviously we weren't actually lucky enough to see Riley go for Bayless or something.

Other than that, I'm happy with the way this draft turned out for us. Charlotte could have done a lot better (although they could swing Felton for a PF like Haslem and look better), Washington could have done better, and Orlando could have done better... both Washington and Orlando missed out on Arthur if I'm not mistaken.

Obviously not officially since after opting out I don't think he can be signed until the 15th of July (could be wrong on the rules, that might be the date for RFAs to negotiate with their current teams). It's why they said "secret" deal, which as soon as they run the story ceases to be secret. I guess they should say "rumored unofficial deal".

David Lee for Raymond Felton being discussed?

When the Knicks selected Italian forward Danilo Gallinari with the sixth pick, it may have signaled the end of David Lee's career as a Knick.

"I'm hearing the Knicks could be working on a deal with the Charlotte Bobcats to acquire point guard Raymond Felton for Lee," Frank Isola writes in his blog.

The Bobcats chose Texas point guard D.J. Augustin with the ninth pick. Augustin's game is consistent with Larry Brown's blueprint for an orchestrating point guard.

When Mike D’Antoni coached the Phoenix Suns, he reportedly did not want Lee because of the forward's lack of shooting ability.

Isola also reports that the Knicks had spoken to the Memphis Grizzlies about trading Lee and Malik Rose for the fifth pick.

From our standpoint I hope this trade happens. Charlotte will acquire a good rebounding forward, but I would never move Felton for David Lee, so maybe it happens and will see who else is involved.

David Lee is a solid role player but I've always found him way overrated. He looks much better he is in NY because he is one the few players who actually tries.

Would that mean that Larry Brown is turning the reigns over to a rookie PG or do they have another move in the offing? I also think that would end the thought of Okafor at PF because if you acquire Lee and his contract expectations you have to give him considerable minutes.

Maybe this is the precursor to a S&T deal with Detroit sending Okafor for a package including Chauncey Billups?

The Memphis rumor died when Lee said he would sign there long term.

Tomorrow kicks off the big signing day.........does Washington offer Gilbert the max? It appears a deal is going to be reached but let's hope it's a max contract!

Jamison, Wiz Nearing 4-Year, $50M Deal

Antawn Jamison and the Washington Wizards are nearing a four-year deal worth $50 million, according to a report by ESPN's Marc Stein.

Sources told ESPN.com on Monday that the Wizards and Jamison would soon finalize terms mere hours before Jamison was to become an unrestricted free agent.

Well Washington clearly aren't headed anymore. Gilbert + Jamison means no cap space and locks them into 40-45 win seasons for years to come.
