Mike Bibby for Jamal Crawford and Jared Jeffries

Why?

Just a very poor investment on our end. This time next year we should be preparing for Acie Law to start and that leaves us with 16 million on our bench between two players. If this trade were to happen it possibly pushes Josh Childress out the door, maybe Marvin Williams, and it may hurt our chances of resigning Joe Johnson two years from now.

As for the trade, I actually like Jamal Crawford. It could be the 2 big combo guard back court that BK passed on when he drafted Shelden Williams over Brandon Roy. The Jared Jeffries part, not so much. He a taller, older, less-skilled replacement for Childress. He has a reputation as a defensive stopper, but I've never really bought into that. I know you included him to make the salaries work and NY definitely would like to move him. However, given his length of contract and woeful production I would rather have Malik Rose's expiring deal although it would cost a little more this year. The expiring deal wouldn't impact our salary issues as much and actually could be helpful in a midseason deal if we chose to go that way. Here's my problem with even the revised deal, if Jamal Crawford doesn't work out at PG or sharing PG duties with Joe then our only option would be Acie. I mean we could move Joe to SF and have Crawford at SG, but we'd be wafer thin at PG if the experiment doesn't work which is likely considering people have been talking about his PG skills since he entered the league and yet he's never held that position consistently for anyone. I think Crawford/Joe could work in the half court, but I'm not sure they hold up well pushing tempo full court or necessarily getting the frontline involved enough.

I like what you suggest on just a talent basis, but I don't think it would work in practice.
