Bibby for Curry & Crawford

Post#1 » by Zerostatic » Tue Jul 1, 2008 9:43 pm

The following trade works in the trade check, what do you guys think?

New York Knicks trades
Jamal Crawford
Eddy Curry

Atlanta Hawks trades
Mike Bibby

The Hawks get a 7 footer who is one season removed from his career year (before Zach Randolph went to the Knicks) of 19.5 ppg, 7.0rpg, .576 fg%. The Hawks also get Crawford who will replace Bibby at PG and makes half what Bibby makes, last year he put up 20.6ppg and 5.0apg.

The Knicks get the savvy true PG that D'antoni wants. If he doesn't work out then they can just let him walk and they'll have cleared cap-room for the 2010 free-agent signing period.

The Hawks would need a big incentive to trade for Eddy Curry like a draft pick(too late for that)or getting rid of Speedy's contract. Infact I would probably would rather have Speedy than Curry(and I bet Walsh would too) seeing as Speedy will be a valuable expiring in a good year to have expirings.

Eddy Curry is looked at as a bad contract. Not a decent player with a bad contract, a straight up bad contract on a bad player. Jamal Crawford is looked at as a decent player, although not a starter on a good team, who is overpaid. Bibby is a decent player, at a position of need, with a massive expiring contract.

i would do this trade in a heart beat , but most NY fans would not accept.

i think most people don't understand what affect (effect?) Zack had on Curry. Curry would have a great year beside Smith and Horford, and feed off of Joe. then once his value goes back up, the Hawks might be able to trade him for something more long term.

Unless we're getting a first round pick I wouldn't do this deal.

theres no way the hawks do this deal, they get a pg they been waiting for, already have joe for the 2 and horford (im assuming they are dedicated to him) at the 5 and zaza as his back up. theres no incentive.

Last time this was brought up I said that Jamal Crawford has never proven to be able to consistently play PG and Curry is a blight (or some other similar bad term). The one upside is that if he is forced to come off the bench Eddy Curry might opt out at the end of the season. I just think it is a bad fit.

Well I don't know about most NY fans but I'm pretty sure Walsh would accept before you could finish the offer.

Zach or no, Curry is still one of the worst defenders/rebounders/passers at his position, he has a poor (terrible actually) work ethic and has shown regression in his areas of weakness.

He's been in the league for a while, the book on Eddy Curry is pretty well known by now.

As a bulls fan i tell you guys dont even think about this trade.
they will not help you guys. Yeah they will score but they will not defend for nothing. Crawford isnts a true PG so he will end up messing up the team. Curry doesnt pass out of double teams, isnt a good help defender , cant denfend his own guy, doesnt rebound to well or block shots, and he turns the ball over

ok he might get you 17ppg but still, Unless u can steal curry then ok . and a draft pick

I wouldn't even trade Mike Woodson for Eddy Curry.

I think the only way you guys would be interested in Curry is if you lose Josh Smith. If the Knicks don't get Duhon, I think they might be interested in swapping Eddy Curry + filler for Claxton and Zaza.

Zaza and Speedy for Eddy Curry? hmmm. I'm guessing that means that Speedy isn't willing to retire. I still gotta say no. We still have a lot of younger players and I wouldn't want any of Curry's bad habits rubbing off on them.

To follow up on Josh's point - I wouldn't even trade Billy Knight, the ASG AND Speedy Claxton for Eddy Curry. I wouldn't even want Curry if he paid the Hawks for the right to play for the team. That man is the biggest waste of talent in the league. For every basket he scores, he gives up three in return. He is one fat, useless bag of ****.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
